False Appearance. While the deathbloom remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a mass of ordinary jungle ground plants.

Grasping Vines. The deathbloom can have up to six vines at a time. Each vine can be attacked (AC 15; 10 hit points; immunity to poison and psychic damage). Destroying a vine deals no damage to the deathbloom, which can extrude a replacement vine on its next turn. A vine can also be broken if a creature takes an action and succeeds on a DC 14 Strength check against it.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The deathbloom makes two attacks with its vines, uses its Reel, and makes a bite attack. It can use its Swallow instead of its bite.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 23 (3d12 + 4) piercing damage.

Vine. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 30 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (3d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, it is also grappled (escape DC 14). Until the grapple ends, the target is restrained and must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned while it is grappled. A creature poisoned in this way is also paralysed.

Reel. The deathbloom pulls each creature grappled by it up to 15 feet straight toward it.

Swallow. The deathbloom makes a bite attack against a Medium or smaller creature it is grappling. If the attack hits, the target takes the bite's damage, the target is swallowed, and the grapple ends. While swallowed, the creature is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the deathbloom, and it takes 21 (6d6) acid damage at the start of each of the deathbloom's turns. The deathbloom can have only one target swallowed at a time.
If the deathbloom takes 30 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, the deathbloom must succeed on a DC 21 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate all swallowed creatures, which fall prone in a space within 10 feet of the deathbloom. If the deathbloom dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse by using 20 feet of movement, exiting prone.

Deadly carnivorous plants that grow in jungles, deathblooms hunt living creatures with their long vines and sharp teeth. They grab unwary jungle fauna and careless adventurers with their vines that secrete mild toxins that incapacitate victims, but aren't fatal and lose potency quickly when removed from the vine. Then, the prey is dragged towards vicious fangs which usually kill it, otherwise, its ferocious stomach enzymes will finish its prey.
If multiple potential prey approach, a deathbloom will attempt to snare one and drag it to its doom, usually leaving the others, for it can only eat one prey at a time, and can subsist from one meal for many months. The powerful acids within their bodies can dissolve almost anything, but things like metal and gemstones are left untouched, so they often contain valuable treasures from their victims.

gollark: I'm not really sure why people are so obsessed with face/fingerprint unlock. I mean, you can type in a PIN very fast, and it's generally more secure to rely on knowledge rather than some biometrics which you can't change.
gollark: Hmm, can retinas actually send pain signals or anything?
