Forever more, when one of them dies, the other makes a Fortitude saving throw. (DC = 10 + HD of the dead one).

If the live one makes their save, the dead one's soul is drawn into their body where it remains until the live one dies. The soul can willingly leave the live persons body, but can not be removed against it's will by anything except the death of the live person. Upon the 2nd death, both souls go their separate ways. The dead soul's retention prevents the dead victim from becoming undead.

If the Fortitude saving throw fails, then both creatures die.

In addition, while both participants live, this spell provides the following benefits to both creatures:

  • Bound Healing. Their healing/regeneration/fast healing happens twice as fast as without this spell.
  • +5 Bound Soul Bonus to any necromantic effects that require a saving throw.
  • +1 Bound Soul Bonus to all other saving throws.
  • Immunity to any affect that would move or capture their soul, including among other things, astral projection and trap the soul.

The binding is permanent. Nothing short of a wish or miracle spell can remove it.

Creatures with multiple bindings do not stack any of the benefits (fast healing, save bonuses, immunities), but they still suffer the additional saving throw/chance of death if any of their bound-mates die.
