Combat Prescient

Among those psions who prefer martial combat to manifesting from the back lines, there is perhaps none so dangerous as the combat prescient, who uses her vast intellect to gain insight into her opponent in battle. A combat prescient finding the path to victory - seeing how to guard against any assault, and how to crush any defense. A potent combination of telepathy and future-sight allows the combat prescient a supernatural level of insight in combat, allowing her to act well ahead of incoming danger and strike back with devastating precision.

Becoming a Combat Prescient

A psychic warrior who wishes to better leverage her psychic power, or a psion wishing to better adapt to melee combat, may each wish to become a combat prescient. This prestige class revolves around using a combination of mundane prediction, clairsentience, and telepathy to figure out an opponent's battle plan and leverage this knowledge against them on both defensive and offensive fronts. The act of becoming a combat prescient is mostly one of learning new and faster ways to apply existing talents; for instance, any psionic character becoming a combat prescient already knows the offensive and defensive precognition powers, so the precognition class feature of the combat prescient comes naturally to them as a new way to gain and use the same knowledge those powers provide.

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the combat prescient.

Manifesting: At each level after first, you gain power points per day, an increase in manifester level, and new powers as if you had also gained a level in a manifesting class to which you belonged before adding the prestige class level. You do not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. If you had more than one manifesting class before becoming a combat prescient, you must decide to which class to add each level for the purpose of determining powers, manifester level, and powers known.

Precognition (Su): A combat prescient is able to glimpse the future just seconds ahead, informing them on how best to move forward in the current moment. A number of times per day equal to her class level, the combat prescient can use an immediate action to roll a die and add the result as an insight bonus to any attack roll, damage roll, saving throw, or skill check. Unlike most other bonuses with shared types, this bonus stacks with any other insight bonus you would have on that roll. At 1st level, the die is a d4; at 4th level, the die increases to a d6; and at 8th level, it increases again to a d8.

Bonus Feats: At 2nd level, a combat prescient gains Sidestep Charge as a bonus feat. At 3rd level, she gains Deflect Arrows. A combat prescient need not have any of the prerequisites normally required for these feats to gain them.

Evasion (Ex): At 2nd level and higher, a combat prescient can avoid even magical and unusual attacks with great agility. If she makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if the combat prescient is wearing armor in which she is proficient, or no armor at all. A helpless combat prescient does not gain the benefit of evasion.

Insightful Defense (Ex): Beginning at 4th level, the combat prescient is so acutely aware of her opponents that she is able to avoid their attacks with supernatural ease every time. This comes in the form of a passive insight bonus to AC, beginning at +1 and increasing by +1 every even level thereafter. If a combat prescient is caught flat-footed or otherwise denied her Dexterity bonus, she also loses this bonus.

Uncanny Dodge (Ex): At 2nd level, a combat prescient retains her Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) even if she is caught flat-footed or struck by an invisible attacker. However, she still loses her Dexterity bonus to AC if immobilized. If a combat prescient already has uncanny dodge from a different class, she automatically gains improved uncanny dodge (as the barbarian class feature) instead.

Double Take (Su): At 6th level, a combat prescient's future-sight becomes more refined and reaches slightly further ahead of time. Whenever she rolls a 1 or 2 on the insight bonus die gained from the precognition feature, she can expend her psionic focus to reroll it and take the better of the two results.

Counteroffense (Ex): At 7th level, a combat prescient learns to better exploit an opening in her opponent's defenses. Whenever you are targeted by an opponent in melee combat who occupies a square you threaten, and they miss an attack against you, you may take an attack of opportunity against him or attempt to disarm him as a free action. If a disarm attempt is made this way, the opponent is caught sufficiently off-guard that this doesn't provoke an attack of opportunity against you. However, he may still attempt to disarm you back if you fail.

Improved Evasion (Ex): At 9th level, a combat prescient’s evasion ability improves. She still takes no damage on a successful Reflex saving throw against attacks, but henceforth she takes only half damage on a failed save. A helpless combat prescient does not gain the benefit of improved evasion.

Blindsight (Ex): At 10th level, your psionically-enhanced senses become so keen that you need not even rely on mundane vision to detect your opponents. You gain blindsight out to a radius of 30 feet.

gollark: Which we probably do have right now, actually. There are something like... three cities. Cherryville is tiny, Chorus City uses weird names picked by me, and Switch City, well, has roads.
gollark: But I mean globally unique street names in Switchcraft.
gollark: Yes, the openstreetmaps page says so.
gollark: > what3words is a commercial, non-open, patented location reference schema. Open data advocates (such as the OpenStreetMap community) would generally advise against adopting it at all.I see.
