As a cherry wisp matures, it eventually grows larger in size, transforming into a stronger cherry spirit. Cherry spirits resemble gnome-sized floating balls of cherry blossom leaves and twigs, with a opening into a black void with two bright yellow eyes, and a jagged mouth. Cherry spirits act as bigger protective siblings to the smaller cherry wisps, despite being almost as friendly and playful themselves. Because of this, multiple wisps will often cluster around cherry spirits from day to day, as their larger counterparts utilize their limited magical abilities to tend to their home forest. They are just as curious of outsiders as the wisps are, and a spirit will sometimes collect a discarded item or trinket out of sheer curiosity, carrying it around with them during their daily rounds. Unlike the wisps, cherry spirits are capable of some amount of speech, and will even give themselves names, loosely based on whatever trinket or knick-knack has taken their fancy.
Like wisps, cherry spirits will gravitate towards the first dryad to make their woods her home, treating her as a sort of mother figure. Although cherry spirits are more assertive than their smaller kin in terms of standing their ground when threatened, they still burn easily, and will flee from any magical sources of fire.

gollark: Is the issue just that you have to parse a bunch of differently sized things?
gollark: I've looked at a bit of the spec, and it seems like it's about the same difficulty, if possibly harder using certain techniques.
gollark: That seems like a ridiculous overestimate. Explain.
gollark: Messagepack seems perfectly fine.
gollark: Msgpack + records extension.
