Caius Ballad is an immortal and invincible warrior who has absolute power over time itself. Originally empowered to watch over the integrity of history, Caius Ballad now seeks to end all of existence for petty and selfish reasons. Divine Boon. Caius Ballad bears the Heart of Etro, the literal and metaphysical heart of a goddess of time and death. So long as the Heart beats within his breast, Caius Ballad cannot be killed by any means, and the Heart itself cannot be removed from him unless he wishes it; even the Goddess who granted him her heart is powerless to stop him. In the unlikely event that a foe should get past his divine defenses and slay him, Caius will immediately rise from the dead, fully restored; and if he is defeated without being killed, he can simply alter the course of time to create a scenario where he is victorious and his enemies are defeated. Renegade Guardian. Caius was granted his power and immortality to watch over the history of the world and prevent time travellers from creating paradoxes that might threaten the multiverse. He served this role well for a time, but grew dispirited when he met a young girl who was destined to die young and reincarnate endlessly. Wishing to end her suffering, he vowed to unmake all that his divine patron held dear and destroy time itself, thereby destroying all of existence. Whether she’d actually want Caius Ballad to do this is a thought that never crossed his mind. Walking Apocalypse. Beyond his peerless swordsmanship, vast magical powers, time manipulation and immortality, Caius Ballad has the power to end the world. All he needs is for someone to stab him in the Heart of Etro, which kill both himself and the goddess and thereby destroy time. If someone is unable or unwilling to do the deed, he can simply do it himself—but he would prefer to die in battle against a worthy foe rather than by his own hand, out of a twisted sense of pride. |
