Brute. A melee weapon deals one extra die of its damage when the bugbear hits with it (included in the attack).

Spellcasting. The bugbear is a 5th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 12, +4 to hit with spell attacks). The bugbear knows the following sorcerer spells:

Cantrips (at will): fire bolt, mage hand, prestidigitation, ray of frost
1st level (4 slots): chromatic orb, detect magic, magic missile
2nd level (2 slots): blindness/deafness, scorching ray
3rd level (2 slots): fear

Surprise Attack. If the bugbear surprises a creature and hits it with an attack during the first round of combat, the target takes an extra 7 (2d6) damage from the attack.

ACTIONS

Quarterstaff. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d6 + 2) bludgeoning damage, or 11 (2d8 + 2) bludgeoning damage if used in two hands.

Bugbear cursers wield strange magic that they use to debilitate and hinder their enemies. Most bugbear cursers do battle from a distance and carry many unusual implements, components, and totems which they believe empower their magic.

gollark: Anyway, so, I would have to make the dialing interface more complicated to support multiple options along the lines of "connect to existing call(s) in channel", "create new call", that sort of thing.
gollark: That would introduce various challenges, ubq.
gollark: oh, THAT is filtered.
