This shapeless, undulating puddle writhes and crawls as if pulling itself forward by fingerless hands, though it has no clear bone structure. Tiny boils bubble up on the surface of its body and pop, spraying its noxious contents back onto itself. It drags deeply as it moves, leaving streaks of red on whatever surface it crosses.

A blood sludge is a putrid ooze that coalesces in areas that have recently been besieged by battle and where many men have fallen. Its body is composed entirely of foul, clotted blood and whatever it has rolled over and gotten stuck to its surface since its formation - bits of dirt and pieces of armor are prevalent. Other than its brownish-red color and awful stench, a blood sludge looks just like a much smaller black pudding.

Combat

A blood sludge is mindless, so it is incapable of doing more than attacking obvious threats with its rudimentary slam attacks. However, because they are born from blood spilled in battle, they retain an aspect of the pain felt by those dying men. They will assault the party member that has the lowest health or is suffering from a mind-altering effect first and will focus on the others using the same method of deduction. If surrounded or overwhelmed by enemies, a blood sludge will attempt to seep into the ground and escape. Once it is safely out of harm's way, it will go about its business as if nothing ever happened. If for some reason it cannot flee, the blood sludge will fight until it is destroyed.

Empathy (Su): A blood sludge automatically detects pain and suffering in creatures within 120 ft. of itself and focuses all of its attacks on whichever creature hurts more than others. This ability functions like an empathy spell. This effect cannot be dispelled. Caster level 6th; save DC 16.

Bloodbath (Ex): A blood sludge has a +5 racial bonus to grapple checks. With a successful grapple check, a blood sludge may engulf a creature of up to its own size category. An engulfed creature is subject to drowning. A victim that is still alive when it emerges from the blood sludge's body (either by escaping or being ejected by the blood sludge) takes 1d6 points of Wisdom damage. The creature must also make a successful Fortitude save (DC 16) on emerging or be nauseated for 1d8 rounds.

Seep (Ex): Once per day, as a swift action, a blood sludge can travel up to 1 mile, transporting up to 150 pounds of other creatures and equipment per Hit Die with itself. The destination must be located in a place the blood sludge has physically visited before.

Ooze Traits: An ooze is an amorphous or mutable creature. Oozes are immune to poison, sleep, paralysis, stunning, and polymorphing. They have no clear front or back and are therefore not subject to critical hits or flanking. Oozes are blind but have the Blindsight special quality. They have no Intelligence scores and are therefore immune to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects).

gollark: You should at least not have blank lines in it.
gollark: Well, just comprehend it.
gollark: Fourthly, why are some lines changed despite seemingly containing exactly the same things?
gollark: Secondly, why did you expand line 116 so much?
gollark: Firstly, please into testing.
