Bladedancer, 2nd Variant (5e Subclass)

Blade Dancer

Walking the way of the blade dancer means preferring finesse over brute strength. It means dodging and diving through waves of foes, slicing each one down. It means acrobatically dancing around a giant's punches before felling it. It means wielding two blades at the same time as extensions of your very being.

Agile Fighter

Your fighting style looks more like a dance than a battle. You move nimbly between enemies, avoiding their strikes. Starting at 3rd level, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain the "Dual Wielder" feat, proficiency in the Acrobatics skill (if already have then pick another proficiency) and a +1 to AC.
  • When an enemy makes an attack against you, you may make a Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. If the result of your check beats their attack roll, you may use your reaction and the attack misses you. You may only do this as many times up to your Dexterity Modifier. Uses of this ability reset after a long rest.
  • When making a bonus action attack with your second, dual wielded weapon, you may add your bonus modifiers to the strike.
  • You may draw and/or sheath a number of weapons (up to your proficiency bonus) you're proficient with as additional free weapon interaction actions.
  • Any weapon you have proficiency in is considered a Finesse weapon.
  • You gain proficiency with Warglaives. (A double bladed weapon - 1d8 slashing damage.)
Dance of Battle

At 5th level you gain an extra attack.

Advanced Two-Weapon Fighting

At 7th level, While you attack with both your weapons, you also defend with them. To you, your two blades are almost as a shield. You gain +2 AC while dual wielding, advantage on all Acrobatics checks.

Bladedancer's Evasion

At 9th level, you can acrobatically dodge out of the way of certain area effects, such as a red dragon's fiery breath or an ice storm spell. When you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail. You must be dual wielding for evasion to work.

Beauteous Destruction

At 10th level, your gain a second Extra Attack.

Blade Fury

At 11th level, as an action you have the ability to make such an incredible number of strikes in such a beautiful manner at such incredible speed that you truly have mastered the dance of death. You may use your action to attack each enemy within 5 feet of you. Once you have used this ability, you may not use it again until you complete a short or long rest. At 11th Level you may attack with your weapons and additional time, giving you 4 attacks per weapon. (effectively Extra Attack(3)) In addition, you double your proficiency bonus for Acrobatics checks.

Dual Blade Mastery

At 15th level, You wield two weapons with the same ease that others can wield only one. You gain one of the following:

  • STRIKER: When you use your reaction to make an opportunity attack, you may also make an attack with your off-hand weapon; or
  • SMITER: Bonus Action attacks with your second weapon score a critical hit on a roll of 18 or higher; or
  • SPEEDSTER: You may cast haste on yourself once per long rest. This use of Haste does not require concentration, but only works if and while you are wielding two weapons.

Dance at Death's Door At 18th level, Your mastery over your blades and body in movement is almost supernatural. When reduced to 0 hit points you may make an Acrobatics check to instead be at 1 hit point through adrenaline in your navigation of death. You roll death saving throws each turn as if unconscious until healed.
