This page is of questionable balance. Reason: You don't adjust BAB like this. +6 LA looks low for such huge bonuses to nearly every stat.

You can help D&D Wiki by better balancing the mechanics of this page. When the mechanics have been changed so that this template is no longer applicable please remove this template. If you do not understand balance please leave comments on this page's talk page before making any edits.

3e Summary::

Atriarchs are some of the most ancient and most powerful beings of their race. Atriarchs are wise, powerful members of their race who more than likely lead the others of their race, becoming alpha males, kings, queens, or messiahs. Despite their great age they are not fragile, on the contrary, they seem to become tougher and stronger the longer they live, and the longer they fight.

Creating an Atriarch

Atriarch is an inherited template that can be added to any living creature with a physical body and an Intelligence score of 2 or higher (referred to hereafter as the base creature).

Hit Dice

Increase base creature’s racial HD only by one die size, to a maximum of d12. An atriarch creature always has maximum hit points plus an additional 6 hit points for each HD.

Speed

An atriarch creature’s speed doubles for all movement types.

Armor Class

Atriarch creatures gain a +6 insight bonus to AC and +6 luck bonus to AC, and the Natural Armor bonus to AC improves by +5.

Attack

An atriarch creature's BAB increases to become equal to its total HD if it wasn't already equal to its total ECL. Do not increase BAB granted by class levels.

An atriarch creature makes all its attacks with a +13 luck bonus on the attack roll.

An atriarch creature gains a +10 insight bonus on Damage rolls for all melee and ranged attacks.

Special Qualities

An atriarch creature retains all the special qualities of the base creature and also gains the following.

Damage Reduction 10/-.

Spell-Like Abilities (Sp) or Psionics (Sp): If the base creature has spell-like abilities, it gains +10 to its caster level to use those abilities. For instance, a creature that uses its spell-like abilities at 10th level uses those abilities at 20th level as an atriarch creature. An atriarch creature also gains the ability to use greater dispelling, haste, and see invisibility three times per day, even if it did not have spell-like abilities before, at 15th caster level.

Fast healing 20. If the creature already possesses fast healing, use whichever is better.

Saves

The atriarch creature gains a +5 insight bonus on all its saving throws.

Abilities

Increase from the base creature as follows: Str +8, Dex +8, Con +8, Int +8, Wis +8, Cha +8.

Skills

An atriarch receives 4 extra skill points at 1st level and 1 extra skill point at each additional level. (The 4 skill points at 1st level are added on as a bonus, not multiplied in.) +2 racial bonus on Bluff, Diplomacy, and Intimidate checks. Atriarchs are masters of social interaction, influencing others through their commanding presence. Knowledge (the planes) is always a class skill for atriarchs. The atriarch creature gains a +5 competence bonus on all its skill checks.

Feats

As the base creature, and three additional bonus feats.

Organization

Atriarch creatures often to rise to become leaders of their race, becoming icons of strength and will. Groups of multiple atriarchs of the same race are extremely rare, seeing as creatures with the potential to become atriarchs are rare themselves.

Challenge Rating

As base creature +5

Alignment

Moves one step towards Neutral

Advancement

By either HD or character class

Level Adjustment

As base creature +6
