Arcane Puppet

As an Arcane Puppet Master, you have mastered the art of mixing magic and show puppets. By infusing puppets with magic, you create animate puppets to fight in your place when in battle. These puppets act as an arcane focus in which you can cast spells through.

Building an Arcane Puppet

Arcane Puppets come in 3 sizes, Small, Meduim, and Large. A puppet can be made out of many materials that can be found around while adventuring. Each having different properties accordingly. Making an Arcane Puppet takes different times depending on their size. A Small Puppet takes 2 hours, a Medium Puppet takes 6 hours, and a Large Puppet takes 12 hours.

When a player chooses this class at level 1, they start with two Small Nature Puppets. If a player chooses this class at a higher level, they must create their first puppets.

Standard Arcane Puppet Stats:

  • All the modifiers for the you apply to the Arcane Puppet*
Nature Puppet

A Nature Puppet is crafted out of any nature around you. This can be trees, logs, leaves, and grass, typically a combination of all of the above. These are the weakest of all the puppets. They typically resemble the normal, every day puppet used in shows. These puppets have resistance to nature damage and have a weakness to fire and lightning damage. These puppets have +2 AC.

Stone Puppet

AStone Puppet is crafted out of stones and pebbles, and held together through magic. These puppets are slightly stronger than wooden puppets. They somewhat resemble stone golems. These puppets have Resistance to fire, acid, slashing, and piercing damage and have a Weakness to bludgeoning, acid, and thunder damage. These puppets have +4 AC.

Steel Puppet

A Steal Puppet is the strongest of the standard puppets. These puppets can be made out of any standard material such as left over swords and armor. These puppets resemble suits of armor like those found in castles. Steel Puppets have Resistance to thunder, poison, and all forms of physical damage andweakness to necrotic and lightning damage. They have a + 8 AC.

Special Arcane Puppet Features:

Mud Puppet

A Mud Puppet is comprised by mixing dirt, water, and a little bit of magic. These puppets do not resemble puppets in the normal way as they are dripping as the mud isn’t held together by any physical means. Mud Puppets' have Resistance to fire, ice, and physical damage, and Weakness to water, lightning, and thunder damage. These puppets have a +6 AC.

Flesh Puppet

Flesh Puppets are made of the remains of the fallen as long as there is still flesh. These puppets are not undead and do not have the abilities of the fallen as they are just puppets created from just the flesh, with no soul. Flesh Puppets have Resistance to necrotic and piercing damage, and have a weakness against fire, lightning, and slashing damage.

Puppet Stats:

Small Puppet

Hp: 3 + Constitution modifier per Arcane Puppet Master Level AC: 6 Speed:45 ft. Str: 3 + modifier Dex: 15 + modifier Con: modifier Int: modifier Wis: modifier Cha: modifier

Medium Puppet

Hp: 10 + Constitution modifier per Arcane Puppet Master Level AC: 12 Speed: 30 ft. Str: 8 + modifier Dex: 10 + modifier Con: modifier Int: modifier Wis: modifier Cha: modifier

Large Puppet

Hp: 20 + Constitution modifier per Arcane Puppet Master Level AC: 18 Speed: 20 ft. Str: 15 + modifier Dex: 6 + modifier Con: modifier Int: modifier Wis: modifier Cha: modifier

Puppet Bag

The puppet Bag is an item that a puppet master receives when he selects this class. This bag is about the size of a bag of holding. Every Arcane Puppet Master starts with a Puppet Bag. This bag can fit up to 12 Small Puppets, 6 Medium Puppets, and 4 Large Puppets, or any combination of the above. When a puppet is folded up and put in the bag, it becomes weightless.

Arcane Strings

The strings of an Arcane Puppet Master are intangible and can only be severed when the Puppet Master himself is unconscious or otherwise unable to use their hands. Each Arcane Puppet Master may have as many strings as he has hands for, and therefore may have as many active puppets as he has strings.

Each set of strings consists of 5 translucent strings of that are hardly visible under clear lighting and takes much concentration and perception to be able to follow to the Arcane Puppet Master who wields them. These strings can be seen emerging from the palm of the Puppet master and going into the heart of the puppet. The strings are a clear color until the Elemental Strings are chosen, in which they are of a specific color. In dim light or darkness the strings are easier to see.

Spell Casting

As an Arcane Puppet Master, you have the ability to cast cantrips. You know the number of cantrips as displayed on the Class Features Table above. If you choose the ‘’’Strings of the Magi’’’, you are able to cast spells with your puppets acting as a conduit for your magic. If you choose the ‘’’Strings of the Sword’’’, then you are able to cast the spells using the ‘’’Subclass Feature Table’’’ bellow.

Dying Effigy

You learn to pull the threads of magic laced in the puppet to bring it forward and take fatal blows instead of yourself. After taking damage that would reduce your hit points to 0, you can instead use your reaction to have a puppet take the damage instead if it is within 100 feet and line of sight. After using this ability you must finish a long rest to use it again.

Class Strings

At 2nd level, you chose a set of Class Strings. Choose between Strings of the Sword and Strings of the Magi, both detailed at the end of the class description. Your choice grants you features at level 3 and again at levels 6, 10, 14, and 17.

Shared Sight

Starting at 3rd level, your puppet no longer has to be within sight of you. You enter a state of seeming unconsciousness. While on this state, you loose your own sight, and see instead through the eyes of your puppet. While also in this state you may choose to loose your hearing and hear through the ears of your puppet, even if it doesn’t have any.

Ability Score Increase

When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.

Strings of the Sword

As you choose these strings, you notice the strings between you and your puppets becomes a piercing silver. You feel the connection fly through the air like an arrow.

Sword Strike

When you gain this feature at 2nd level your puppet can now use simple and martial weapons to fight.

Extra Attack

When you gain this feature at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn with a Mele weapon.

Strings of the Magi

As you choose these strings, you see the strings connecting you and your puppets burst into a brilliant glow of blues, reds, purples, and yellows. The colors soon fade into a faint rainbow between you and your puppets.

Puppet Casting

When you gain this feature at 2nd level, you can now cast Spells, as well as the Cantrips that you already can. Use the spell slot portion of the Class Features Table above.

Grim Harvest

At 2nd level, you gain the ability to reap life energy from creatures you kill with your spells. Once per turn when you kill one or more creatures with a spell of 1st level or higher, you regain hit points equal to the spell's level. You don't gain this benefit for killing constructs or undead.

gollark: Eeeeh, sure, but it's probably bad for quite a lot of stuff where you don't want to end up wondering "hey, why are lines only 8 chars long" or whatever.
gollark: Well, I think it probably is most of the time.
gollark: I can't see many reasons to use it in the first place.
gollark: You should probably not use C unless you're very experienced in it.
gollark: Ah, yes, buffer overflows, one of the wonderful joys of C.
