Creating a Speed Soul

What caused this soul to choose you?

Quick Build

You can make a Speed Soul quickly by following these suggestions. First, Dexterity should be your highest ability score for base weapon damage, or Intelligence if you want to use Surge more.

Class Features

As a Ancient Soul of Speed you gain the following class features.

Hit Points

Hit Dice: 1d8 per Ancient Soul of Speed level
Hit Points at 1st Level: 8 + Constitution modifier
Hit Points at Higher Levels: 1d8 (or 5) + Constitution modifier per Ancient Soul of Speed level after 1st

Proficiencies

Armor: Light Armor
Weapons: Simple Melee Weapons and Martial Melee Weapons
Tools: none
Saving Throws: Dexterity, Intelligence
Skills: Choose four from Acrobatics, Arcana, Deception, History, Insight, Investigation, Perception, Performance, Persuasion, Sleight of Hand, or Stealth

Equipment

You start with the following equipment, in addition to the equipment granted by your background:

  • (a) A Rapier or (b) Two Shortswords
  • (a) An explorers Pack or (b) A Dungeoneers Pack
  • (a) Leather Armor and two daggers or (b) {{{item3b}}}
  • If you are using starting wealth, you have 5d4x10 in funds.

Quick Strike

When you move at least 15ft towards an enemy and attack, your attack does an extra 1d4 damage. This increases to 2d4 at 5th level, 3d4 at 11th level, and 4d4 at 17th level

Surge

Starting at 2nd level, you have learned to boost your own speed. You have a number of Surge uses equal to your Intelligence Modifier. You can expend one of these as a free action, to double your total movement for the turn. You regain all uses after a long rest. At 14th level, you regain all uses after a short rest.

Striking Mobility

Starting At 3rd level, when you use your quick strike ability, you can continue your movement away from the enemy without provoking an opportunity attack.

Ability Score Increase

When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.

Increasing Soul Presence

Your soul of speed has started protruding more from you. Starting at 5th level, when you use your surge feature, a boosting power surrounds your hands granting you an extra d4 of damage to any weapon attacks you make for the next minute.

Extra Attack

Starting at 6th level when you take the attack action, you can make two attacks instead of one.

Expertise

At 6th level, pick two skills you have proficiency in, you can apply double proficiency on those skills. You can pick two more at 13th level

Speeding Blow

Starting at 7th level, you can make an Attack as a bonus action if you did not attack as an action this turn.

Evasion

Starting at 7th level, when you are forced to make a dexterity save on taking damage, on a success you take no damage, and only half on a failed save.

Key Observance

Starting at 9th level, by spending your movement, action, and bonus action on your turn you can peer into the enemy to find out something in relation to you. You can find out if it has a higher or lower stat than you that you choose (including HP and AC), if it has more or less attacks than you, if it has any vulnerabilities, or if it has any resistances.

Bonus Proficiencies

You can Pick any two skills, you now gain proficiency in them.

Mental Priority

Your mind and body are in perfect harmony, and your mind moves with incredible speed. Starting at 10th level, you can add your intelligence modifier to your initiative

Uncanny Dodge

Starting at 10th level, When you are hit by an attack that does damage, you can use your reaction to halve the damage of the attack.

Soul Capacity 50%

The Speed Soul is releasing itself more than before. Your soul releases an aura that surrounds just your body, this lasts for 10 minutes when you use your surge feature, that grants you a few different effects. Firstly you gain +15ft to your movement speed, you have advantage on acrobatics(Dexterity) and investigation(Intelligence) checks. At 15th level you can spread this to allies within 30ft of you for the same amount of time.

Lightning Attacks

Starting at 13th level your speed can change the damage you do with attacks. You can change your damage type with your quick strike to piercing, slashing, or lightning damage. As well the attacks now count as magical if they weren't already.

True Soul Presence

You have reached the peak controllable point of your link with the speed soul. When you use your aura from soul capacity 50%, and then use your surge, you can enter true combat mode for 1 minute. While in this form you shed a blue light in a 30ft radius, you and any allies within 30ft of you gain the effects of your aura, as well your Increasing soul presence die increases to 2d4. Finally your speed increases by 30ft instead of 15ft. You also gain the Dual Speed Katanas while in this form.

Each Katana deals 1d10 slashing damage, magical, finesse

Hyperspeed Strike

You can choose to use both your action and bonus action, while expending two surge uses to attack a creature that you can see 5 times. This doesn't provoke opportunity attacks.

Deific Form

At 20th level you have master your soul bond to the point where you can push past the controllable limit. As an action you can expend three surge uses to enter your deific form. While in this form you are a large humanoid for purposes of damage and grappling. You temporarily have a Dexterity score of 30 in this form. Your attacks in this form all do 1d10+6d4 damage. you have 5 attacks total with the same abilities. The quick attack is counted in your weapon damage already. Your speed also increases by 30ft from the true soul form speed. This lasts for 1 minute, and when it's over you exit the form and take three levels of exhastion, as well as 5d10 necrotic damage for pushing past your limits.

Multiclassing

To qualify for multiclassing into the Speed Soul class, you must meet these prerequisites: Dexterity 17, Intelligence 15

When you multiclass into the Speed Soul class, you gain the following proficiencies: Light Armor, Martial Weapons, Acrobatics
