Amaranth (3.5e Creature)

Amaranths are powerful undead, condemned to be but a shadow of their former selves, forever onto eternity. They are souls of people who spent their lifetimes searching for eternal life, punished by spending the eternity they sought after as an animated corpse. Amaranths barely have any flesh left, being mostly skeletal, to symbolize that the life's blood they have so abused in life was spent on them in death. Many amarants were former clerics, paladins of tyranny or slaughter or blackguards. Most amaranths live tortured lives, their hatred and spite amplified by their curse, but some very rare amaranths seek redemption in their undead state, becoming unlikely champions of justice.

Amaranth usually fight by using their spell-like abilities whilst massing an army of undead with his rebuke undead ability.

Rebuke Undead (Su): An amaranth can rebuke undead as a 10th level cleric 7 times per day.

Spell-Like Abilities: 3/day—animate dead, bane, desecrate; 1/day—create undead; Caster level 10th.

Death Knight

Death knights are fantastic beacons of undead power, commanding their lessers with a startling presence and attacking with enormous ferocity.

Class Levels: A death knight is an amaranth with 20 levels in WarbladeToB, giving it an insight bonus equal to its Intelligence bonus to Reflex saves, rolls to confirm critical hits, damage rolls against flatfooted or flanked creatures, checks made to oppose an enemy bull rush, disarm, feint, overrun, sunder or trip, and to both attack and damage rolls made while making an attack of opportunity. It also has improved uncanny dodge and knows 13 battle maneuvers (see Tome of Battle), of which he can prepare 7. Furthermore, he knows 4 stances, two of which may be active simultaneously. His class levels give it 4 bonus feats.

Rebuke Undead (Su): A death knight can rebuke undead as a 31st level cleric (35th level if it benefits from its phylactery of undead rebuking), a total of 13 times per day.

Spell-Like Abilities: 3/day—animate dead, bane, desecrate; 1/day—create undead; Caster level 30th.

gollark: One example *is* excellent evidence of general trends, yes.
gollark: My school was mostly okay, but I think it's a suboptimal system for anything but somewhat bad subsidized childcare.
gollark: If you keep lying to people, they will probably stop believing you at some point.
gollark: Um, it does mean that? Or at least freedom from some sets of consequences. If I tell you you're free to eat some chocolate or something, then punish you for it when you do, I think this is stretching "freedom" somewhat.
gollark: As in, the Indian one is here and apparently a problem.
