David Buckingham discovered the first period-28 pre-pulsar shuttle, newshuttle, in 1973. The variant shown at right was found by thunk on November 17, 2016,[1] and incorporates shuttle mechanisms by David Buckingham (block and eater), Bill Gosper (mold), and thunk (blocks, blinkers, and tubs). In terms of its 53 cells, this oscillator was tied with mold on 41P7.2 and T-nosed p4 on 28P7.4 as the smallest known non-trivial period-28 oscillator until the discovery of mold on 34P14 shuttle in 2018.

gollark: Yes, one from mine too, that's why I mentioned it. Perhaps we secretly all go to the same school and never realized it.
gollark: Ye§.
gollark: Oh no, a video.
gollark: Unfortunately they would also be really quite onerous to actually do, and nobody seems to have thought that optional part-time remote learning would be good.
gollark: My school has transmitted its plans to make everyone socially distant when term begins and all during school, and they seem like they should (mostly, some bits are stupid) actually be quite effective.
