Octagon 4

Octagon 4 is a period-4 oscillator, discovered in January 1979 by Robert Wainwright.[1] It consists of a regular octagon with sides four cells long and of four blocks. In August 2004 Jason Summers and Mark Niemiec found a 34-glider synthesis of this oscillator.[2] It first appeared semi-naturally in October 2014 in a soup found by Matthias Merzenich using apgsearch.[3]
