Houndstooth agar

Houndstooth is a period 2 agar whose unit cell measures 4×4 Life cells. In the figure below, cells which are always alive are black, during even generations blue, during odd generations red, and otherwise white. Unlike Venetian blinds or zebra stripes, its unit cell is finite in both directions. Unlike the phoenix squaredance, it contains cells of all phases and durations within its period.

gollark: That's not an API thing, I'm fairly sure.
gollark: Anyway, anyone who would create loads for no reason could now do so if they asked for an API key.
gollark: Why would people just create loads for no reason?
gollark: outnumber
gollark: In any sort of reasonable situation, the several hundred online users will vastly number API requests.
