Houndstooth agar
Houndstooth is a period 2 agar whose unit cell measures 4×4 Life cells. In the figure below, cells which are always alive are black, during even generations blue, during odd generations red, and otherwise white. Unlike Venetian blinds or zebra stripes, its unit cell is finite in both directions. Unlike the phoenix squaredance, it contains cells of all phases and durations within its period.
