Zebra stripes
Zebra stripes is a still life agar consisting of alternating bands of live cells and unoccupied cells. It is the pattern which spacefillers try to create. The Venetian blinds agar is similar, but with bands two cells wide it is no longer static, having period 2. Banded agars can have an arbitrary distribution of bands between the two states; their overall behavior follows Wolfram's Rule 22 for one-dimensional cellular automata [1].
