Hertz oscillator
Hertz oscillator is a period-8 oscillator that was found in 1970 by John Conway's group.[1] It features two blocks and two snakes used as induction coils (i.e. to stabilize the sides).

An 11-glider synthesis is known for a stator variant of this oscillator which uses one block, one boat and two houses for stabilization. On February 10, 2020, Matti Ward found a 58-glider synthesis for the canonical version of this oscillator.[2]
