Some of his most notable contributions to the Game of Life were the construction of the boojum reflector, which was the smallest and fastest known 180-degree stable reflector from 2001 until 2009. He also constructed the first non-glider gun that fires spaceships that travel at a speed other than c/2 (see P416 60P5H2V0 gun).
In November 2013 he found the linear propagator, the first true replicator in the Game of Life.
