• Alas, Poor Villain: Despite everything she does and tries to do, you can't help feeling at least a little sorry for Nolaa Tarkona during her final moments. Her Freudian Excuse helps.
• Alternate Character Interpretation: Some scenes with Tionne and Luke paint them in a relationship.
• Canon Sue: Anja Gallandro. The heretofore unheard-of daughter of one of Han Solo's most memorable EU antagonists, who comes equipped with flowing, knee-length raven hair, her own spaceship, secret drug-addiction for sympathy and a unique lightsaber which she can still wield ably despite not being a Force-user.
  • Deconstructed with a heavy dose of Character Development. Anja isn't actually terribly good at anything other than acting like a Badass. As the story progresses, the realization that she's simply a useful Mook to a boss with none of her ideals causes her to break down. By the end of the final book, she's firmly the damsel.
