• Complete Monster: Well, they are Chaos Space Marines after all, although surprisingly sometimes you'll find yourself wishing for them to succeed.
  • In the second novel they fight the Dark Eldar, who are as evil as them, but inspire even less sympathy.
• Fridge Logic: In the third book, the Undying One starts using the Nexus Arrangement to cut off the Warp influence around the planet. Teleportation throws people through the Warp. Oops.
• Nightmare Fuel: All the descriptions of Varnus' predicaments are this.
