Tropes used in Windigo (2011 film) include:
- Being Watched: The whole purpose of the scene with Selina, Reese, and Brandon on the canoe. Slender Man watches the boat from the shore.
- The Blank: Slender Man himself, as usual.
- Canada, Eh??: The movie is very persistent in reminding you that it takes place in Canada, especially during the first 40 minutes.
- Combat Tentacles: You don't expect them, then suddenly he's using them to fling a truck across the yard.
- Cluster F-Bomb: At some points, definitely.
Kwekon shoots Dean.
Kwekon: Fuck...
Reese: Fuck!
Kwekon: Dude are you okay?
Reese: Fuck!
- Daylight Horror: Most of Tall, Thin and Faceless's appearances are in broad daylight.
- Don't Go in The Woods
- Elemental Powers: Slendy seems to love trees and water. Ripples can even be seen in the quarry when Brandon finds Selina's body. Seems to be weak to explosions, though.
- Follow the Leader: Despite superficial similarities, the movie doesn't take too many cues from Marble Hornets other than the trademark distortion.
- Heroic Sacrifice: During the final fight, after Slendy has gone all One-Winged Angel, Kwekon hops into a sedan and plows into him at full speed. Slendy is next seen withering away in a giant fireball.
- Missing Episode: How did Reese et. al. figure out that Brandon was taken to Alain's house?
- Nothing Is Scarier: At times the movie can be nearly silent.
- Numerological Motif: The movie was released on 11/11/2011, the same repeating number that was used in Tribe Twelve. Might count as an Homage.
- Redemption Equals Death: After accidently killing Dean (Slendy had pulled either a Mind Rape or a Teleportation trick), Kwekon drives a sedan into Slendy at full speed. The resulting fireball seems to finally kill the Eldritch Abomination.
