Widow
A 2007 Nollywood film, it's the story of Nena Ocole, a housewife and mother of three, Sonny, Benny and Tony. Her comfortable life is turned upside down when her husband Chimon died right in the middle of a family dispute of the swindling of the pharmaceutical company. This movie documents the trials and tribulations of widows in Nigeria and has had a positive influence in the country.
Tropes used in Widow include:
- Cain and Abel: Kai, the elder brother and Chimon.
- Complete Monster: Kai and the Mother of Chimon, as well as anyone who abused Nena.
- Disappeared Dad: Chmon's father is presumably deceased and the husband's fate accelerates the plot.
- Earn Your Happy Ending
- Happily Married: Nena and Chimon are the slightly more realistic example of this trope.
- Obnoxious In-Laws: Chimon's mother and brother.
- Tear Jerker
- Values Dissonance: Since this is a Nigerian film, expect to run into some of this.
