• Jerkass Woobie: Kano. Her treatment of Nitta makes it hard to sympathize with her initially, and it doesn't endear her to him. But then she starts genuinely liking him, silently appreciating what he does for her, and even listening to his opinions and taking them into consideration. Then later chapters show how Nitta is probably the best thing that has happened to her recently in an otherwise sucky lonely and self-destructive life, and you will want to give her a big hug and tell her that everything is going to be okay. The tragic part is that for all her Character Development, and despite beginning to see him as more than just a toy, she's still treating him as one. You get the feeling that if Nitta manages to pay of his debt, he will leave Kano hoping that they will never meet again, even if he warms up to her, and Kano might become utterly heartbroken due to Kano not being true to her feelings, perhaps thinking that Nitta will notice them eventually and react accordingly.
• Complete Monster: Kano's stepmother is swerving dangerously close to the Moral Event Horizon, and is likely to cross it by Chapter 32.
