VeggieTales/YMMV

  • Anvilicious: Of the Delicious variety.
  • Crowning Moment of Funny: Anything involving Larry. Ever.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome:
  • Ear Worm: Many of the songs, especially in the "Silly Songs with Larry" section.
    • Plus Billy Joe McGuffrey.
    • 'What We Gonna Do?' the Villain Song from 'Daniel And The Lion's Den.' Actually goes pretty far for a Veggie Tales cartoon; while some of the lyrics are silly (they suggest using Daniel as a table for Scrabble) they also mention beating him up and feeding him to crocodiles. All while being an insanely catchy song.
    • Actually created some problems with the original version of "The Bunny Song" from the "Rack, Shack and Benny" video when Big Idea was deluged with complaints from parents about kids singing lines like "I don't love my mom or my dad, just the bunny"; as a result the song was rewritten and redubbed for later releases; and a Silly Song compilation video contained a follow-up song where Mr. Nezzer's lesson appears to have stuck with him.
    • The "time we talk about what we learned today song" is every catchy in-universe and out; the only one that doesn't seem to like it is Bob.
      • He admitted it grew on him as of Lord of the Beans.
    • The Song of the Cebu, at least until they run out of lyrics.
    • Oh, where is my hairbrush? Oh, where is my hairbrush? Oh where-oh-where-oh-where-oh-where-oh-where-oh-where-oh-where-oh-where-oh-wheeeeeeeeeeere is my hairbrush?
  • Family-Unfriendly Aesop: The George Mueller story. Putting the lives of several orphans in the hands of chance is better than taking money from the government, apparently.
  • Garfunkel: Bob the Tomato, in that despite being a main character he almost never gets a lead role or even appears in the main stories; and Larry always seems to outshine him in merchandise. Though Bob not appearing in the stories is probably due to the fact that he is normally the one telling the stories.
  • Periphery Demographic: Who got Veggie Tales going in its early years? College students.
  • Special Effects Failure/They Just Didn't Care: Sweetpea Beauty has probably the worst animation of any Veggie video. No lighting whatsoever, props randomly move from one position to another, one character's mouth randomly grows and drops in framerate, and entire backgrounds and textures disappear for no apparent reason.
  • Shallow Parody: The show isn't guilty of this itself, but VeggieTales has been the target of some very nasty, mean-spirited mockeries which, to the letter, haven't been nearly as clever or funny as their intended target.
    • Though The Simpsons managed to do a rather funny, two-second-long parody of the series by playing its premise totally straight -- heck, the line could pretty much be from the real thing:

Moses: Mighty Yamses, we grow weary of building your food pyramids. Let my pickles go.
Homer: (watching the video) Mmmmmmmmm, Moses....

  • Tear Jerker:
    • Two words: Pizza Angel.
    • In "It's a Meaningful Life", which has an obvious It's a Wonderful Plot, the character Stuart see what would happen if he left his hometown to become a big football star. What he sees that in this alternate reality his hometown is terrible but the worst part for him was seeing his adopted daughter alone in an orphanage unloved.

YMMV tropes exclusive to the movies:
