  • Alas, Poor Villain: After Iron Mask dies, Gray can't bring himself to hate or despise him, he only feels pity. In his final speech to Mewtwo he shows similar if lesser sympathies toward Iron Mask's son, Judas Krissinger.
  • Complete Monster: Syndor. In fact, it's because of this that Judas uses him.
    • In fact, Judas made him that way, a justification of this trope.
  • Crowning Moment of Awesome: Kaiser, Gray's Nidoking, gets a lot of these.
    • Later on, nearly every one of his main team Pokemon all get one of their own, along with many other people and pokemon.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Syndor's ultimate fate.
  • Villain Decay: One-Eye the Gyarados originates as being strong enough to take over a dozen Pokemon (admittedly, much weaker ones), while later on, he becomes a joke. May also be a case of Villain Forgot to Level Grind.
    • This is played with when he nearly rips Dragon in half with a single strike, but he's humiliated as his attempts to finish the job are continuously interrupted.
  • The Woobie: There's even a Pokemon named after this trope!
