The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil
- The stage 1 theme A Soul as Red as a Ground Cherry has an epic, if somewhat odd, name[1], and an equally epic classical remix.
- O-Life Japan delivers a a delightful piece that begins ominous then becomes supremely energetic.
- Rumia's theme, Apparitions Stalk the Night, is the most cheerful theme of a darkness creature in history.
- Sekken-ya's EX Devil's Rush (Road of Pandemonium) and TaNaBaTa's Pick Me Up In The Dance Hall certainly do conserve the cheerfulness.
- Apparitions in full orchestra version.
- And the TAMusic version creates a great 'nighttime' atmosphere.
- Her theme in Gensou Shoujo Taisen is nice too.
- Cirno's Tomboyish Girl in Love is made of love.
- She's getting tired of being called an idiot all the time, though.
- Miku Hatsune's version of Cirno's Math Class. You might want some tissues.
- Cirno's Perfect Piano Class.
- TAMusic's Perfect Violin Rendition. TAM has the STRONGEST violin!
- Liz Triangle's "Heart of Glass" is a beautiful vocal arrange of Cirno's theme.
- Cirno's Tokimeki Frozen Pack. Your teeth are already dead from the sweetness.
- Liverne's remix is so heavily retooled, it barely sounds recognisable... and yet it's wonderfully haunting.
- Chiruno, Chiruno, Chiruno, Chiruno, Chiruno...
- Chiru Chiruu Chiru Chiruu Chiruno...
- "Chirumiru, chirumiru genki, chirumiru!" ("Genki da yo~")
- Virus Key gives us the Cirno waltz.
- Cirnoroth.
- A beautiful piece brought to you by k-waves lab.
- What do you get when you combine Cirno's theme with her awesome stage music? Some epic orchestra!
- And now, for a Homestuck remix, Heir Conditioning. Also has Complete Darkness and Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom ~ Nuclear Fusion.
- In appreciation of the little ice fairy, Tohoho Orchestra created another gorgeous version.
- This troper can't belive Tutti Sounds rendition of Cirno's theme escaped the list.
- She's getting tired of being called an idiot all the time, though.
- Lunate Elf could be considered as Daiyosei's theme. Unfortunately, they are both overshadowed by Cirno and her theme.
- Discord Registers unleashes their potential with a rocking metal arrangment.
- Shanghai Alice of Meiji 17, Hong Meiling's theme, is great.
- H ave an orchestral arrangement.
- From ZUN's album Dolls in Pseudo Paradise, a more calming version.
- In Enough With Knife - The Gatekeeper's Chapter, Meiling rants about always being knifed by Sakuya.
- An incredibly powerful piano version, courtesy of Aojiru.
- Tutti Sound combines Meiling's theme with her stage theme for a spectacular result.
Comment: The battles that you face. You had always thought they would be the worst you would encounter... Yet here before you, a lone figure stands. Dressed in dark shades of green, her fiery red hair seems a perfect descriptor of your opponent. Can you overcome this new challenge?
- On the subject of Meiling, her stage music, Shanghai Teahouse ~ Chinese Tea.
- Here, have a COOL&CREATE remix of the stage theme.
- IOSYS combines her theme with her stage music in Chinese Gatekeeper Girl Meiling: Watashi namae wa Hong Meiling!
- ZUN's own arrange of Chinese Tea is even better.
- Floating Cloud Acoustic Band give us a gorgeous folk mix carried by one of China's most iconic instruments, the erhu.
- A metal arrange? By IOSYS? Well why didn't you say so?
- While Patchouli's theme, Locked Girl ~ The Girl's Secret Room is kind of average, the remixes generally tend towards good. Its SWR remix (noted below) is awesome, IOSYS brings us Special Ability To Sing A Love Spell, and if you add in a little of Marisa's theme, you get COOL&CREATE's Locked Girl. Also can't forget Weekend Clock ~ The Clock that Chimes at the End of the Week, even if no one has yet figured out what that weird series of lyrics near the beginning mean.
- Patchouli's theme sounds best when made epic.
- Zun manages to make it a little bit more magical in his album Retrospective 53 Minutes.
- This.
- This too.
- Patchouli Knowledge will destroy all of us with Royal Flare.
- On a different note, with Unlocked Girl ~ The Girl Who Left Her Secret Room, IOSYS managed to turn a dark and ominous character theme into a heartwarming vocalization about Patchouli leaving her library to enjoy a walk outside.
- And Yellow Zebra show us what they know.
- Voile, The Magic Library, Patchouli's stage theme, may not be the best song from the game, but it's a quite nice tune. This troper thinks that it fits the stage mode really well.
- And there's ARA's version.
- This arrange by Tutti Sound turns an otherwise underwhelming theme into the most epic library ever.
- Sakuya's battle theme, Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial. ZUN was right - maids go well with hard rock!
- The Concealed the Conclusion version is even better!
- There's just no way a classical remix of Luna Dial would work, right? WRONG.
- Another classical version for your enjoyment.
- And here's a vocal remix for you all: Dial Connected.
- Wait, no love for Sakuya's stage theme, The Maid and the Pocket Watch of Blood? Maybe these awesome remixes will change your mind.
- There's hard rock, and then there's face-melting rock.
- Ditto for speed metal.
- Unlucky Morpheus and Fuki give us another awesome vocal remix.
- "Dolce Luna" feels dark, yet beautiful, a great arrange of both Lunar Dial and The Maid and the Pocket watch of blood.
- And how can we forget the Ezel-Ash version.
- Tutti Sound combines Sakuya's stage and boss themes for one intense ride.
- The Young Descendant of Tepes, Remilia's stage music, is easily overshadowed by what comes after it but still deserves mention.
- At long last Aojiru's take on it has been reuploaded!
- O-Life Japan steps up with a lively Irish flavor with the appropriately titled The Importance of Fun.
- Septette for the Dead Princess, Remilia's theme, is so popular, arranges, remixes, and vocal versions of it are extremely widespread!
- O-Life Japan managed to make a rather regal rendition.
- S.S.H. has remixed it.
- TAMUSIC's violin + Remilia's theme = Awesome.
- Another gorgeous TAM version of Septet. Someone really needs to give him a medal or something.
- After this Fan Vid, Innocent Key's Touhou Sweets! The Cruel Sisters and the Suffering Maid, you'll never see Remilia or Sakuya the same way again.
- In the IOSYS song Such Adorable Scarlets Can't Possibly Be My Mistresses, Sakuya finally shows her perverted side. It's not as sexually suggestive as the above vid, but...yeah.
- Here, have a wonderful piano version, courtesy of SOUND HOLIC.
- And here's another epic piano arrangement.
- Behold Remi's true CHARISMA.
- A beautiful orchestral arrange by Nazz-can.
- Remi Remi Remi Ah ooh ah ooh ah
- And now for something completely different, a fantastic orchestral version, courtesy of Kitsune's Worshop.
- For a really emotionally-weighted rendition, SOUND HOLIC gives us this gem Prière from their -Kurenai- album. The fanvid is incredibly good, and was a major fan favourite over Halloween.
- Sonic Hispeed Omega weighs in with this awesome symphonic metal arrange of Remilia's theme.
- Dectet, Nonet, Octet, courtesy of the ever-amazing Morrigan of WAVE, is the perfect theme for a terror of the night, and even has a bonus U.N. Owen at the end.
- This transcendental piano version by the wonderful Shiraha is not only a slice of heaven, but is also an actual septet.
- Although less known, Nashimoto-P lends his awesome guitar to help create Scarlet Myrtle along with Tonon's vocals.
- Opposite World is a fantastic vocal arrangement used as the ED for the Memories of Phantasm Fanime.
- How about this remix, it starts with classical and the shifts into facemelting metal.
- Remilia meets X Japan? Yes, it's just as awesome as it sounds.
- What would a mellow night with Remilia in Rio de Janeiro sound like? Something like this.
- Although it's not IOSYS's usual genre, they released a rock album that had an amazing rock remix.
- Flandre's boss theme, U.N. Owen was Her?, translates perfectly that feeling of "Holy crap I'm going to die!"
- This remix of UN Owen was discovered by this troper just in time for Christmas. Amazing how Christmassy Flandre's theme can sound while still retaining the baseline of UN Owen was her.
- This one is just as fitting for Christmas...
- ...And this one for Halloween! Flan-themes for the holidays!
- Who brought Flandre to the Carnival of Venice?
- This opera remix is epic.
- A version of her theme was performed by KK Slider.
- This Version is performed by a single person over several times and it simply rules.
- Memories of Scarlet, a combination of both Scarlet Sister's themes, shows that Innocent Key is capable of far more than cutesy, Ecchi J-pop numbers.
- Yet another rendition of U.N. Owen by Innocent Key, Significant point. This number is heavy on the rockin', although the version with vocals could scare you with her screams.
- Sweets Time. The Midnight version is exquisitely creepy even without subtitles due to the mesmerizing images and haunting sound of a lonely child singing to herself in a vast manor. Then you look up the translated lyrics, and there shall you find the true meaning behind what she's singing about. This version is faster and subtitled, for those who want to get to the point.
- Let it be forever known that the remix of U.N. Owen by Red-Sight is FORKING AWESOME.
- The Virus Key version is simultaneously energetic, haunting and beautiful.
- Devil's Advocate by PrototypeRaptor of OC ReMix is the result of what happens when U.N. Owen meets Danny Elfman and Tim Burton.
- EastNewSound gives us two hard-edged techno remixes (the second being a....er...remix of the remix). Both are heavy on the Nightmare Fuel lyrics, with the first remix being much more horroriffic (especially with the accompanying vid), with the second remix only ever so slightly less creepy and more tragic sound.
- A very schizophrenic remix by O-Life Japan
- Unlucky Morpheus delivers a really rockin' metal mix of Flan's theme with Unknown Child
- This version is simple, yet completely awesome version made by ZUN. And another that sticks closer to the original.
- Sound Horizon with JIMANG made this remix. Considering it's JIMANG, it's already known that this is over-the-top.
- This remix of UN Owen was discovered by this troper just in time for Christmas. Amazing how Christmassy Flandre's theme can sound while still retaining the baseline of UN Owen was her.
Youtube commenter: U.N. Owen was OHHH DESIREEE?!?!
- Here is a piano mix of the COOL&CREATE remix that is famous for the sheer number of notes played, to the point where it has been known to break player pianos. Also in Synthesia.
- Three relaxing piano arranges.
- Arranged with real instruments, played by one man. Here it is.
Video Description: No mortal should be capable of this. This man is talented.
- TAMusic manages to turn her theme into a haunting song fitting for a person who has been trapped for nearly 500 years (the image used for the video only makes that impact more so).
- A more peaceful remix.
- Liz Triangle and lily-an are ordering that this Halloween, you are singing Who Killed U.N. Owen.
- It even translates into Irish folk.
- We've been talking about U.N. Owen was her for this long, and you haven't even mentioned this remix?! For shame.
- Here is an remix by Factory Noise & AG.
- Tutti Sound's version is a magnificent, bombastic piece with a choir that blows away nearly all of the competition.
- And of course one of the offical remasterings from Dolls in Pseudo Paradise.
- As with Remilia's theme above, IOSYS made an excellent rock remix of Flandre's theme.
- Denkare gives us this.
- The Extra Stage theme, The Centennial Festival for Magical Girls is a swell tune... With practically no remixes.
- Wave has remixed it, and has done so by mixing it with... Crystallized Silver of all themes. The result is unexpectedly awesome.
- Yet another gorgeous version.
- Crimson Tower ~ Eastern Dream..., the credits theme, isn't that good, but these two piano versions bring out its majesty.
- Piano is good, but piano and flute is even better.
- Completely out of character, Demetori uses a guitar that isn't electric to create a gorgeous and soothing version that is beyond words.
- Of course, Tutti Sound manages to make even this theme spectacular.
Perfect Cherry Blossom
- Mystic Dream - Snow or Cherry Petal, the title theme is a very nice piano theme that is a medley of past songs in the series.
- Paradise ~ Deep Mountain, the stage 1 theme is often overlooked, but the remixes really bring this awesome tune to life:
- This vocal remix is absolutely beautiful.
- ARA ~ Fragmentary White manages to do amazing things with Deep Mountain, even without lyrics.
- O-life Japan's first rendition of Deep Mountain has the girls join in. Oh, and it also features epic dancing.
- Icy Peaks is a beautiful violin renditioning.
- Need to make a humble stage 1 theme absolutely badass? Ask Demetori. Bonus points for faux vynel player effects as Book Ends.
- And not to be outdone, Letty's boss theme, Crystallized Silver, is worth a listen.
- IRON ATTACK and dBu give us hard rocking remixes of Letty's theme.
- As does O-Life Japan with its remix of Crystallized Silver.
- And Morrigian strikes again.
- Chen's theme, Withered Leaf, is just so playful and upbeat <3
- Now combined with the smooooch memetic song.
- SWING HOLIC offers us their jazzy rendition.
- Also, The Fantastic Legend of Tohno, Chen's stage music.
- Once again, O-Life Japan makes a wonderful reintepration of Chen's stage theme. First slow, then fast, this piece uses some instruments in ways people may not expect!
- WAVE's version is a relaxing variation of an otherwise energetic piece, and it still works.
- Alice's theme Doll Judgment ~ The Girl who Played with People's Shapes and stage theme The Doll-Maker of Bucharest are both classics.
- Doll Judgement is especially notable for the IOSYS remix, Marisa Stole the Precious Thing, which Alice apparently has a hard time remembering the lyrics to. Also, mahjong.
- Speaking of Marisa Stole the Precious Thing and Doll Judgement, check out this in-house remix of both by IOSYS - done full orchestral:
Youtube Comment: Marisa Stole the Precious Symphony.
- That's enough peppy, techno remixes. Let's hear a remix of Doll Judgment that's a bit more... dangerous.
- Another one by xi-on!
- And, of course, if you want an epic remix, WAVE is the group you're looking for.
- SHI gives us a soothing string version.
- Here's another more creepy remix. How's another? One more rocky version.
- And of course a metal remix for the road.
- That's enough peppy, techno remixes. Let's hear a remix of Doll Judgment that's a bit more... dangerous.
- The Capital City of Flowers in the Sky, the theme for Stage 4.
- Fans have provided us with both a piano version and a spectacular orchestral version.
- This one, Sensitive Heart - 天空の花の都 Capital City of Flowers in the Sky . Mmmmm-mmmm.
- Demetori delivers a masterpiece as usual.
- Ghostly Band ~ Phantom Ensemble from the Prismriver fight, aka Perfect Cherry Blossom's Those Three Bosses. The best part is how, even in the original, you can make out the girls' signature instruments, plus lots more from their signature instrument styles, and how you can tell when each sister enters the song.
- S.S.H gives us the best arrange ever, as if Lunasa had traded in her violin for an ax guitar.
- Did anyone order a wonderful orchestral version? How about another?
- TAMUSIC brought you a pop/classic rendition (and one of his earlier signature piece), Silent Ensemble.
- Obligatory gorgeous piano version.
- Soundholic does a wonderful song dedicated to the Prismriver Sisters and Layla with You May Know "Dream".
- Silver Forest brings you Touhou ga naku koro ni - combination with Dear You, complete with trademark bird-spooker.
- WAVE with Morrigian give it their usuall treatment.
- Mystic Oriental Dream ~ Ancient Temple, the stage 5 theme, is the perfect introduction to the Netherworld.
- This vocal remix combining Ancient Temple and Japanese Dream is just simply epic.
- IOSYS steps in once more and has done quite an exceptionally faithful vocal remix to Youmu as a servant of Yuyuko.
- This arrange combines Morrigan's glorious orchestra with some stunning vocals to create a continuous eargasm.
- Cutoff Thread by Buta-Otome puts Ranko's amazing vocals to work on this piece, and it just works so well.
- Youmu's theme, Hiroari Shoots A Strange Bird ~ Till When?
- An awesome remix.
- Obligatory epic version, courtesy of Morrigan.
- This metal and vocal version by Rokugen Alice is both elegant and intense.
- The final stage music, The Ultimate Truth, really underscores the fact you're heading into a dramatic and emotional climax. The original is energetic and fast-paced, but Diverse System's remix is more sedate and poignant, something you can imagine playing when Yuyuko realizes who she's trying to resurrect...
- Bloom Nobly, Cherry Blossoms of Sumizome - Border of Life (A mix between soothing and tension, very appropriate for a cute yet very much lethal boss).
- This spectacular orchestral arrange of Border of Life by WAVE goes beyond awesome and ascends into the realm of epic.
- This heartwarming rendition by FELT is energetic and a worthy listen.
- If WAVE's remix is Border of Life made epic, this remix by =Neutral= is Border of Life after taking a level in badass.
- Border of Life. Just when you thought it couldn't get more epic, here comes the Unlucky Morpheus arrangement.
- SOUND HOLIC's "Drive My Life" turns Yuyuko's theme into some of the most awesome driving music ever. They also have Perfect Cherry Blossom, an epic rock arrahge.
- With this one, Lily-an of the group Liz-Triangle lends her beautiful voice.
- This troper firmly believed that making a good vocal rearrangement of Border of Life was impossible (well, except for WAVE's version, of course)... until he found this awesome vocal arrangement by Neutral2, sung by Tamari. It remixes both Yuyuko's theme and Ultimate Truth, her great but often overlooked stage theme. The result is... wonderful.
- Virus Key gives Yuyuko both their glorious orchestral treatment, then combines that with Necrofantasia (read below).
- The circle EastNewSound gives us the beautiful and awesome Shisou Rinne, Reirou No Tsui.
- And for something completely different, we have this cute and energetic arrange by the circle Silver Forest.
- Border of Life, Yuyuko's second theme, certainly qualifies, especially when combined with the boss fight itself. Yuyuko appears to be defeated, everything goes silent, then she suddenly reappears for one last Spell Card attack, which is also a survival card. The music starts at a relatively soft volume, and as you dodge wave after wave of bullets, it gradually builds up and crescendos, culminating in the triumphant climax during the final wave as the game briefly goes into Bullet Time, an explosion occurs around Yuyuko, and all the bullets turn into point items and are absorbed. The triumphant music also continues into the results screen (unlike with previous levels' results screens) as your collected items and extra lives and such are tallied and converted into bonus points, furthering the climactic effect.
- O-Life Japan takes their electronic guitar to Border of Life, and it results in what can only be best described as a multiple eargasm.
- The Extra Stage theme, Charming Domination, and its Phantasm Stage counterpart, Charming Domination ~ Who done it?, are arguably part of the better Extra Stage themes in the series. They are incredibly well-suited for the portions leading up to two very epic boss fights.
- Ran Yakumo's theme A Maiden's Illusionary Funeral ~ Necro-Fantasy, is full of win. Yukari's theme, Necrofantasia, featured next on this page, is actually an arranged version of this theme.
- Aojiru of TAMusic gives us this awesome orchestral arrange of Necro-Fantasy.
- The circle AQUASTYLE gives us another kickass orchestral arrange.
- Ladies and gentlemen, the SUPPA TENKO Song! (Warning: NSFW)
- Have a listen to this spectacular piano version.
- Necrofantasia: This troper found it the first time that he kept losing that level consistently because he would get distracted by that music repeatedly. It's just that good, a perfect theme for a one woman badass Ancient Tradition who could do basically anything to you or the world you're in but prefers to sleep and is actually quite kind.
- The IOSYS remix of Necrofantasia, Border of Death, is amazing, with or without vocals. It is even more impressive with German lyrics.
- Demetori brings us the speed metal version.
- This version is a nice choral remix.
- This rendition of Necrofantasia by O-Life Japan is something that must be heard to be believed.
- And Now for Something Completely Different, here's a speedcore version by t+ pazolite of C.H.S.
- And of course, the RED ALiCE remix.
- The one sung by Misato (also brought by Alstroemeria Records) is pure Tear Jerker though.
- Viollet Orden by artist Precious Sounds of the circle Croak Not Rue takes the already awesome Necrofantasia and turns it into an epic score that wouldn't be out of place in a World War II movie.
- Neutral gives us this very awesome orchestral version of Necrofantasia.
- WAVE's Devine Purple is distilled and refined epicness.
- Another orchestral version, courtesy of Kitsune's Workshop.
- maria♂polo of the circle NJK Record blasts out an awesome Eurobeat remix of Yukari's theme with Dirty Sexy Girl.
- Ezel-Ash gives us Dead Fantasia, a very nice rock remix of Yukari's theme.
- Sonic Hybrid Orchestra's version is a symphonic metal mix that is simultaneously beautiful and epic.
- How could anyone forget Hatsunemiko's stunning arrangement Fragments of a Chronology with its classic opening line?
- Sakura, Sakura ~ Japanize Dream..., PCB's credits theme, is unbelievably relaxing. This piano version is even better.
- And =NeutraL='s trance version will just carry you away.
- Kitsune's Workshop's version is expectedly amazing.
- Another piano arrange, provided by, of all circles, Demetori. For a group that normally does rock/metal, it is a major change of pace for them and extremely well done.
Immaterial and Missing Power
- Demystify Feast, the Pre-Battle Theme for the 5th Story Mode fight.
- IOSYS's vocals of it, Club Ibuki in Break All and The Feast Never Ends, as well as marasy8's piano rendition of it.
- ZUN's own remixes tends to be extremely close to the version that appeared in game. Demystify Feast is the exception and really benefits from it.
- Demystification Darkness by WAVE is simply epic.
- Yukari's new theme, Night Falls ~Evening Star, portrays her true personality even better, with its fast and frenetic tempo that hints of both playfulness and tension.
- Concealed the Conclusion has its own version.
- Nozan ACT also did this awesome piece justice.
- Sound Holic takes this theme and the pre-battle theme Swift Battle, mixes them, and gives us this awesome vocal arrangement.
- Suika's pre-battle conversation theme Broken Moon and stage theme Onigashima in the Fairyland ~ Missing Power.
- This combination of several of Suika's themes by [TAMusic] manages to bring out Suika's sadness at being forgotten by humans. FlanGoY also did a decent flute solo arrange of Broken Moon that has the same emotional effect. Compare them with the more cheerful original version.
- End of Strong is a rocked-out revisit to her theme. Onis go well with rock too~
- Listen to Midnight March, WAVE's arrange of Suika's theme. Now that is epic.
- Broken the Moon by Xi of AQUAELIE speeds things up and adds 200% more merry drunken madness.
- Here's another, again courtesy of Kitsune's Workshop.
- The Hatsunetsu mix of Broken Moon (used as the opening for Touhou Kinema-Kan) is another great vocal remix.
- This two-for-one special by SOUND HOLIC is an exercise in contrasts, the first one an energetic piece straight out of Okami, and the second tragic and majestic.
- And of course we get new versions of previous themes. Have a listen to Dance of Witches (a remix of Witches' Ball, see the Seihou section below), Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial, Voile, Magic Library and, of course Septet for the Dead Princess.
- The credits theme, Oriental Memory of Forgathering Dream, is just awesome in every way (except for being so short ;_;).
- A relaxing version? If you insist.
Imperishable Night
- Even the menu themes can be - no, are pretty good. Case in point: Eternal Night Vignette ~ Eastern Night, probably one of the most chilling menu themes you'll ever listen to.
- Floating Cloud Acoustic Band offer a stunning folk mix to open their debut CD.
- EastNewSound gives us a high energy techno version.
- Wriggle gets things going with this Troper's personal favourite Stage 1 Boss theme, Stirring an Autumn Moon ~ Mooned Insect.
- And there's IOSYS' depressing vocal arrange, too...
- Obviously, she needs more love. So here's a rock remix~
- O-Life Japan gives us a version that starts slow and soft that eventually builds to an epic climax.
- How the wonderful Stage 1 music Illusionary Night ~ Ghostly Eyes was missed is unacceptable.
- Kissing the Mirror gives us Declare of Exception, an awesome power metal arrange of Wriggle's stage theme.
- This troper cannot find a superlative expressive enough to describe Eclipced(sic). Par for the course when we're talking about Crow'sClaw, really.
- Everfades took this theme and created the outstandingly beautiful Blue Tears Night, with or without TAMusic's violin.
- The Stage 2 theme Song of the Night Sparrow ~ Night Bird eloquently plays the idea that night time's burning and you gotta hurry. Also coincides with the tune that maybe Mystia is actually a very lonely bird who might've been trying to make friends and failed.
- It seems only fitting that Mystia's theme Deaf to all but the Song, contains such a fantastic melody.
- And here's one of the (relatively speaking) few remixes of it, from dBu's Eternal Nocturne album.
- And here's SOUND HOLIC's Die Lorelei ~ eine Sage vom Rhein, a beautiful and awesome orchestral arrange of Mystia's theme.
- Here's a mix of undiluted awesomeness, badassery, and melody to complete your day.
- WAVE give us a version that is a combination of soothing and intense.
- Nostalgic Blood of The East ~ Old World and Plain Asia, Keine's stage and boss themes respectively, are often overlooked, which only serves to make the remixes all the more amazing, as Virus Key and ARA demonstrate.
- Want more proof? Try listening to this arrange of Plain Asia by Dark PHOENiX.
- This version of Old World by El Dorado is delightfully sinister.
- This masterpiece by Tenmon will draw streams of tears from even the hardest of souls.
- This version reminds this troper of bull-fighting. Also mixed in is some Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke
- This version rom the album Negligent Maximum tune !!, Bloody Haven, is a wonderful demonstration how the descriptors "techno", "electronic", "hardcore" and "trance" can fit into a single piece.
- SHI's gorgeous piano creates a version that can only be described as wonderfully soothing.
- Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle Reimu's theme from the days of yore, making a come-back among the fandom. Very intense feeling, and an amazing piano line.
- AQUAELIE makes the theme even more awesome.
- IOSYS gives us Neko Miko Reimu, which is just too damned cute for words.
- Want even cuter? Try the videoclip.
- And don't forget to donate while you're admiring her.
- Try it orchestrated. As one YouTube commenter put it: "This is spectacular. After sitting and listening Touhou covers all day, you get to this one, and Reimu comes along to remind us, gently, 'I am the heroine. Why? Because THIS MUSIC.'"
- WAVE's remix of this track is EVEN MORE EPIC.
- Here's what it would sound like in Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver.
- Throw in Love-coloured Master Spark for Marisa too.
- The Twilight Symphony remix slows the tempo down, adds an orchestra and ominous vocals, and overall causes dangerous levels of Epic.
- And then there's IOSYS's I Am Marisa, which is incredibly badass.
- Not nearly as badass as the Final Master Spark.
- And IOSYS takes back the crown with another remix of I Am Marisa.
- Also from IOSYS, I've Developed Precious Feelings for Alice. And if anyone have the time, please translate and/or transcribe [dead link] it
- IRON ATTACK delivers the Hot-Blooded awesome with Sparking.
- What happens when you take Beatmario and Amane from COOL&CREATE and Morrigan from WAVE and have them work on a song together? You get Endless Dream, a remix of both Reimu and Marisa's themes which simply cannot be described in human words.
- For something completely different, a slow, relaxing vocal version.
- Morrigan's masterpiece version is exhilarating, sinister, powerful, almost religious, and epic beyond reason. It could even exceed his Border of Life arrange.
- Stage 4's own theme Retribution for the Eternal Night ~ Imperishable Night. While the first thing you'll notice is that it's a mix of the title theme with a few quarts of adrenaline added, you'll soon find yourself getting restless and impatient as you speed through the forest, blasting through the cannon-fodder fairies. As the music swells to levels usually reserved for 6th or Extra stages, you will know that only a real boss can follow this stage up. Then, as the song climaxes, the screen flashes white, all hindrances vanishing - cue the youkai laughter at the end of the music's loop, followed by the boss flying in.
- Here's a remake that sounds identical to the original. The difference? It was made on a synthesiser that doesn't have all the necessary instruments.
- The stage 5 theme Cinderella Cage ~ Kagome-Kagome is so good it's often considered Tewi's definitive theme song over her dedicated tune from Phantasmagoria of Flower View.
- And of course this video with Tewi from a Sekken-ya song.
- This metal arrangement also deserves mention.
- As does this piano arrangement.
- Another Morrigan masterpiece, giving the mischievous little rabbit's theme a dose of the spectacular.
- War in Cage is a hardcore arrange of her theme by moro. And it's awesome.
- dBu makes a combo hit combining Kagome Kagome with Lord Usa's Elemental Flag. Such an upbeat mix just can't be missed.
- Lunatic Eyes ~ Invisible Full Moon (Reisen's theme) has a beautiful high note.
- Voyage 1969 - Illusion of Space for The Very Definitely Final Dungeon In Space.
- And it's in-game remix, Voyage 1970.
- There's a mix of Voyage 1969-1970 and Cinderella Cage that is either awesome/epic or crazy/insane depending how you see it. The name's "Voyage into a cage..." . Decide it for yourselves.
- Virus Key again, showing how it's done.
- More fantastic piano.
- Strap yourselves in, dBu is gonna take you to space with some exhilarating electronica.
- ZUN's own remix of Voyage 1969 is top notch.
- Yuuhei Satellite created a phenomenal remix with the song "Iron Rain"
- Gensokyo Millenium ~ History of the Moon (Eirin's theme); This is just epic in every way.
- Guess what do you get when you add orchestral instrumentation and metal on top of an already epic piece?
- How about just metal?
- Guess what happens when you let WAVE make this already epic song even more epic?
- More epic History of the Moon? Well, if you insist.
- History of the Moon works really damn well with classical instruments, doesn't it?
- Indeed. So well, in fact, that WAVE decided to do another classical remix of History of the Moon. Enjoy.
- Try this metal version on for size.
- Xi-on's metal version is out of this world.
- Tutti Sound's magnificence requires no preamble.
- Flight of the Bamboo Cutter ~ Lunatic Princess Kaguya's theme too. Aw heck, nearly every boss theme qualifies for this.
- Kaguya's theme also brings us this ear worm. HELP ME, EIRINNNNNNNNNNNNN!
- IOSYS gives us The Hourai Jewel, Ever Beautiful.
- On the flip side of the tape is The Hourai Jewel, Ever Beautiful[B ], which remixes Kaguya's Theme with Voyage 1970.
- Not to mention a down right fantastic remix by S.S.H.
- Gentlemen. GENTLEMEN. Morrigan is back, and gives us the epic and awesome Luna Forest.
- Tutti Sound, being epic as usual, make Lunatic Princess even more beautiful and majestic.
- Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke (Mokou's theme); Very good dynamic to it.
- Mokou has a GREAT theme.
- Mokou REALLY hates Kaguya, huh...
- Morrigan gives us Timeless Mind Now this is glorious.
- IRON ATTACK gives Mokou a well-deserved metal treatment.
- Dark Phoenix, aside from being appropriately named, gives us a version that can only be described as "hot damn!".
- More Mokou metal by CROW'S CLAW is just what the Lunarian doctor ordered.
- Mokou's stage theme, Extend Ash ~ Hourai Victim, is even better.
- Indeed.
- Extend Ash, Hammer Remix.
- One last Morrigan eargasm, this time tragic and relentless.
- Meanwhile, East New Sound brings us the techno-vocal arrange Step-by-Step, which is one of the most amazing arranges of Mokou's stage theme EVER.
- This troper can't believe everybody forgot about the ending theme, Evening Primrose.
- For a rather soothing remix that kicks ass check this out. Unfortunately not that much is known about the song.
- The Last Word theme Eastern Youkai Beauty is one of this troper's favourite pieces of ZUN music although he doesn't know any remixes of it.
- Here's a couple. Try a rock version, and then a techno variant.
- IOSYS has Darkness and Light, an epic piece truly fitting for what the original song is for: all the various characters in the game throwing out some of the hardest danmaku they can manage.
Phantasmagoria of Flower View
- Just about every returning character from the previous Touhou games gets an upgraded theme. Among them...
- Reimu starts us off right with Spring Lane - Colorful Path.
- Marisa gets a little darker with Oriental Dark Flight.
- Sakuya returns with Flowering Night..
- There's also Ezel-Ash's take on it, in addition to WAVE's perfect and elegant arrange.
- For bonus points, Night of Nights, the extremely catchy remix by beatmario and/or Cool & Create. (It even has arranges and remixes itself!)
- RED ALiCE's Iolite version is all this troper needs in life, although Haru's instrumental version is rather out of this world as well.
- Sekken-Ya proving again that maids go well with rock
- The Floating Cloud Acostic Band turned it into the dreamy Flower Village
- Cirno's theme gets an upgrade with Adventures of the Lovestruck Tomboy.
- Mystia rocks out with Deaf to All But the Song - Flower Mix.
- Aya brings her theme song, Wind God Girl to the table.
- Hellion Sounds' remix rocks the socks off of any others.
- The Fastest Highest Shutter Girl by COOL&CREATE is made of Hot-Blooded awesome.
- Nazz-can turned this theme into something for which the term Epic is most fitting.
Youtube Comment: Airship Shameimaru, launch!
- Innocent Key turned Aya's theme into ~The Perverted Tengu and the Maidens of Tragedy~, a musical drama that is epic in every sense of the word. There's also an instrumental version.
- Let's not forget Demetori's speedy remix.
- And of course, IOSYS's first Touhou arrange song, Phantasmagoria Mystical Expectation.
- The Nico Nico Orchestra version is pretty darn good, too.
- U2 Akiyama shows us the Big Band sound isn't dead. It just moved to Gensokyo.
- Forest306 takes us on a journey to the heart of the Old West.
- Poison Body ~ Forsaken Doll Medicine Melancholy's theme, a quite dramatic number for a somewhat underrated Touhou character.
- This mashup of Medicine's theme with the Nutcracker Suite, by Riva of TATAMI STUGIWO, puts a whole new spin on the little poison doll.
- And in case you wanted an epic and dramatic arrange of Medicine's theme, WAVE has you covered.
- Yuka's theme, Gensokyo, Past and Present ~ Flower Land, has a sort of nostalgic feeling to it -- perfect for a returning PC-98 character like her!
- The vocal version Taiyou no Hana/Fragrance of Oriental Sunflower by IOSYS is sufficiently epic, not at all hindered by the visuals.
- Yuka also has Cytokine.
- WAVE yet again, this time with a simply breath-taking flute.
- O-Life Japan gave Yuuka this rather magical sounding remix.
- Komachi's theme, Higan Retour ~ Riverside View.
- The Concealed the Conclusion version outdoes it by far.
- Both TAMusic and Alternative each provide a gorgeous version.
- Demetori arrived, everyone else just lost.
- WAVE did a remix, your statement is false.
- For a change in pace, a peaceful vocal version by Riverside (yes, I know).
- Mound of Life, a simple pre-battle theme, is essentially a prelude to the awesomeness that is the Yama of Xanadu's theme music.
- Demetori takes a break from the heavy metal to bring us "Unnamed Scenery," a mesmerizing acoustic arrange that's relaxing, but with a hint of uneasy anticipation for what is to come.
- Shikieiki brings along the awesome Judgement in the Sixtieth Year - Fate of Sixty Years.
- WAVE strikes again, Bringing us T, 1948,12 Yama of Xanadu, an awesomely epic arrange of Shikieiki's theme nothing short of majestic and quite fitting for Gensokyo's resident judge of the dead.
- AQUAELIE gives us this awesomely epic remix, Rapidity is a justice.
- S.S.H. has remixed it as well.

- "Starlight Vision" from Alstroemeria Records is a much gentler vocal remix, something soft and wistful.
- The Flower Like The Fantasy, the ending theme.
Shoot The Bullet
- Retrospective Kyoto, the fourth stage theme, is one of the few songs that stands out from Shoot The Bullet
- Again, TAMusic delivers not only a great solo piano, but even an outstanding piano + violin duet arrange. And another.
- WAVE's full orchestral rendition is beyond words.
- Before they became known for the Highschool of the Dead intro, Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets did doujin songs including a lot of Touhou. Their remix of this one? Akeboshi Rocket.
- SWING HOLIC scores again with the mellow smooth jazz sound of Blue Rain in Kyoto
Youtube comment:"he's actually playing sexophone."
- The third stage theme Sleepless Night of the Eatern Country. The upbeat tempo certainly provides a contrast to a game with mostly serious or melancholy tones.
- If you wanna be prepared to take photos to the Touhou characters, there's the first stage theme: Wind Circulation ~ Wind Tour.
- ↑ "ground cherry" in this context refers to the plant Physalis alkekengi.
