Tomboy and Girly Girl/Playing With
Basic Trope: Two girls act as foils for one another, one being rather boyish while the other is more feminine.
- Played Straight: Alice likes pink, wears makeup fairly often, and listens to pop music. Casey plays baseball, wears jeans that are often grass-stained, and likes rock music.
- Exaggerated: Alice and Casey are both completely boyish and girly as some sort of aggressive idealishts, possibily like The McCoy.
- or: Alice is a Lipstick Lesbian, Casey is a Butch Lesbian, and they're a couple.
- Justified: People naturally have different tastes, and while the two are different, Alice and Casey share a few interests together.
- Inverted: Sensitive Guy and Manly Man
- Subverted: Alice is One of the Boys, but her friend just turns out to be a rather effeminate male.
- Double-Subverted: ...Who then undergoes a Gender Bender, and regarding the First Law of Gender Bending, stays that way.
- Parodied: Alice is the Alpha Bitch who shrieks when she breaks a nail, while Casey is often the cause of Viewer Gender Confusion thanks to her appearance.
- or: Alice is a dumb "prep" who wears pink and listens to Hilary Duff, while Casey is a "goff" who hates her.
- or: Alice is a very lady-like Yamato Nadeshiko, and her friend Casey is The Ladette who often gets Mistaken for Gay.
- Deconstructed: ???
- Reconstructed: ???
- Averted: Alice is the only person in the story. She is neither particularly boyish, nor is she at all "girly" but is a logically minded person like The Spock.
- The cast has no girls.
- Zig Zagged: Alice and Casey switch roles as to who is the "Tomboy" at any given time, depending on the day/episode.
- Enforced: The creator wanted to appeal to a wide range of interest, so the show has girls with different tastes.
- Lampshaded: "She's like the Hakura to your Michuru," "I'm straight, dammit!"
