The Wrestler/YMMV
- Award Snub:
- Losing Best Actor to Sean Penn in Milk.
- Marisa Tomei losing Best Supporting Actress (to Penelope Cruz), and the film itself not even being nominated for Best Picture, Director, or even Screenplay!
- Due to a technicality, Bruce Springsteen's ending credits theme "The Wrestler" was disqualified from being nominated for Best Original Song.
- Crowning Moment of Funny:
- "The Nineties fuckin' sucked" conversation between Randy and Cassidy.
- Also, Ram playing video games with the neighbor kid: "Call it doody four?"
- There is a scene where Ram is working in a deli at a supermarket. It's quite subtle, but with his plastic gloves on he picks his nose right in front of an old woman (and a customer to boot).
- Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: Randy's conversation on the pier with his daughter.
Ram: You're my girl. You're my little girl. And now, I'm an old broken down piece of meat... and I'm alone. And I deserve to be all alone. I just don't want you to hate me.
- Fan Disservice: The butt shot where Randy injects steroids on himself. Which, to make matters worse, shows up on the DVD menu.
- Genius Bonus:
- Randy uses the Diving Headbutt as his finisher, the move that caused a lot of Chris Benoit's brain damage.
- In the very first scene, someone praises Randy backstage because he "put [his opponent] over", implying that Randy lost in a way that made his opponent look good.
- Tear Jerker: The film is a manly example of this trope. At a private screening for the legends of wrestling, Roddy Piper reportedly broke down crying.
- The Woobie: Randy, for his struggles with the world outside of pro wrestling.
