• Adored by the Network: When it was on, this show was only moderately popular at best. Yet, Nickelodeon thought they had a huge hit so they ran this damn show any chance they could. The fact that they gave it two theatrical movies that both underperformed should be a sign that this show was too adored by Nickelodeon.

  • Nigel Thornberry is voiced by Tim Curry, clearly. an example of Casting Against Type.
  • Darwin is voiced by Tom Kane.
  • Donnie is voiced by Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
  • That's Lacey Chabert voicing Eliza.
  • And fuck me if that talking hippo isn't Krumm.
  • Marianne's mother is voiced by Betty White.
  • Danielle Harris is Debbie.
• What Could Have Been: Originally, the show was be more along the lines of an "educational show" centering around Nigel traveling around the world and teaching people about the various animals that lived there. Nickelodeon decided to change it into the Dr. Dolittle-esque adventure series due to feeling it would be more successful with a kid protagonist.
