The Tick (television)/YMMV

  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Nestor Carbonell played Batmanuel (a parody of Batman). He would later play the Mayor of Gotham City in The Dark Knight.
  • Large Ham: Pretty much anytime that Tick opens his mouth. The scary part? His villains are often even bigger hams than he is! Done, as just about everything else in the franchise, as an Affectionate Parody of super hero comics.)
  • Screwed by the Network: Fox did not own the series, and rarely promoted it. Patrick Warburton has noted that despite fan and critical praise, the high production costs further discouraged FOX from giving The Tick a chance. The costs were increased by overtime pay due to a shortened filming schedule. This comprised a six or seven day shooting of each episode shortened to five days. Warburton has repeatedly criticized FOX's mismanagement of the series, reiterating that the network "apparently didn't have a clue."
  • Too Good to Last: The series only lasted about six episodes before its cancellation.
    • Your mileage may vary on that. Most non-hardcore Tick fans agree that there were only two decent episodes, neither of which aired before cancellation.
