The Small One (Disney)/Recap

A young Judaean boy is forced to sell his beloved donkey, "Small One" when his father can no longer afford to keep him -- however, the animal is too weak for work, and no one wants to buy him except a tanner who wants to skin him for leather. At last, the boy is able to sell his donkey to a kindly man who tells him, "I need a gentle donkey to carry my wife to Bethlehem." The film ends with the boy watching the man and his wife departing, under the guidance of a shining star.
