The Prestige/Trivia

  • Acting for Two:
    • Bale as the Borden twins. See Fridge Brilliance tab.
    • Jackman plays both Robert Angier and his double, Root.
  • Actor Allusion: After impressing Angier and Cutter with his ability to mimic the magician, Root delivers the Shakespearian lines My liege, I did deny no prisoners. This is the beginning of Hugh Jackman's go-to soliloquy for when he has to audition for a part.
  • All-Star Cast: It's easier to list who isn't a star.
  • Dueling Movies: One of two period pieces that focus on magicians to come out in 2006 (along with The Illusionist, which is actually quite different).
  • Fake American:
    • Aussie Hugh Jackman as the American Angier. He's actually a Fake Brit, Lord Caldlow, pretending to be an American.
    • Londoner Andy Serkis plays Alley with a Big Applesauce accent.
  • Fake Brit: Lots.
    • Scarlett Johansson got some criticism for her accent. Interestingly, her character is an American in the novel, which means it might have been deliberate for her to talk like an American imitating an English accent.
    • Also, Daniel Davis of The Nanny, using the exact same accent as he did in said show.
    • And Piper Perabo.
  • Hey, It's That Guy!: You might remember Owens as the Sheriff of Rottingham in Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
  • Irony as She Is Cast:
    • Ricky Jay, the film's magic consultant, has a role as an incompetent stage magician.
    • Also, David Bowie as the famously celibate Tesla.
