• Everyone Is Jesus in Purgatory: Pretty much built in.
• Foe Yay: Quite a bit, but most prominently the Butcher and Beaver, who end up brought together by the threat of the Jub Jub and a demonstration of the Rule of Three.
• Freud Was Right/Unfortunate Implications: In keeping with the Theme Initials, the only animal on board is a Beaver.^[1] Also, when Mike Batt did his musical adaptation and decided that a female crewmember was needed, he chose the Beaver for this role.
  • When Alan Moore made reference to the story in an extra for The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, he also turned the Beaver into "Mrs. Beaver", a human woman.
