The Garden (webcomic)
The Garden is a sci-fi webcomic about the "evil" angel Adrian, a silent demon Iri, and the insanely happy girl Karen that they can't seem to get away from.
Tropes used in The Garden (webcomic) include:
- Chainsaw Good: Adrian's choice of what to take when robbing the weapon shop. He's rather disappointed when he has to abandon it.
- Crapsack World: The "Gods", who oversee the genetic experiments as well as the rest of the world, definitely ensure that it is this.
- The Ditz: Karen, though there are hints that she may in fact be smarter then she looks.
- Gladiator Games: Dissidents are apparently made to fight in them. Both Adrian and Iri had to do so, with the former apparently being very good at it.
- The Guards Must Be Crazy: The security forces are not particularly competent.
Guard: They said you let them go.
- It's Probably Nothing: Here and here. There seems to be a reoccurring theme in this comic of people being unable to notice the obvious.
- Literary Allusion Title: It's pretty obvious the title refers to the Garden of Eden.
- Katanas Are Just Better: Parodied. Karen had hoped Iri would pick a more reasonable weapon than the one Adrian chose...then she sees he chose a katana.
- Morality Pet: Subverted and played straight. Initially, it seems that Karen is going to be this for Adrian. As her Stepford Smiler tendencies come out, it's indicated the relationship may be reversed...
- Our Angels Are Different: They're the result of genetic manipulation.
- Our Demons Are Different: See Our Angels Are Different.
- Slasher Smile: This is what happens when Karen drops her "happy" facade.
- So Much for Stealth: Tends to occur whenever Karen shows up, as she apparently has No Indoor Voice.
- The Speechless: Iri, due to having his vocal cords cut out. He has developed other means of communication.
- Stepford Smiler: Karen is heavily implied to be a type C. Of course, when the mask comes off, she's still smiling...
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Abby, who will go to any length to bring down the corrupt society. Part of this seems to have rubbed off on Adrian.
