• Non Sequitur Scene: Anthony Kledis and Flea trying to take out the car in their monster truck. Even Hammond says of the carnage, "You gotta be kidding!"
• Crosses the Line Twice: The scene in which cadavers come tumbling out of an ambulance.
• Crowning Moment of Awesome:
  • There is, of course, the daring escape pulled off by Natalie at the climax of the movie, as noted on the main page.
  • Jack gets one, too. When he is negotiating with Mr. Voss, the older man and Natalie get into a trivial argument and Jack actually comes to Natalie's defense, basically telling her dad to shut up. It's the turning point at which we truly understand that Natalie's father isn't quite the upstanding fellow he seems - and that Jack is, frankly, a better man than he is!
• Ensemble Darkhorse: Fans of this movie really seem to love Cary Elwes's reporter character. He even has the name of "Steve Horsegroovy."
• Hilarious in Hindsight: The way the media is parodied is pretty much the exact way they would handle such a news story today!
• Nightmare Fuel:The scene in which cadavers come tumbling out of an ambulance.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: It would have been tons of fun to see the chase continue into Mexico. However the whole point of Hammond going to Mexico is that the police can't go there to arrest him without seriously pissing off the Mexicans.
