Now a bunch of poor, but mostly democratic, independent states and a vacation spot for North Americans.

NOTE: This is a list of the Caribbean countries that aren't part of Latin America. Because of that, some countries like Cuba or Dominican Republic are not here, while some countries like Guyana or Belize are here. Confused yet? Just think of this list as a list of countries members of a "Caribbean Community" (a real organization, known as CARICOM, headquartered in Georgetown, the capital city of Guyana). And Puerto Rico.
