• Took the Bad Film Seriously: Animator Willis O'Brian, the same person who animated King freakin' Kong, delivered some of the smoothest stop motion of his career (The "cave of monsters" sequence) for a low budget '50s sci-fi movie.
• What an Idiot!: The army tries killing the scorpion with an electrified cannon shell (essentially, a giant taser.) After it fails, a soldier reels the shell back by its cord- and then holds it in his hands. He gets electrocuted.
