After the first season was a major ratings success, NBC pushed for more seasons really quickly, and ended up broadcasting five seasons in a little over two years. This rapidly alienated most of the viewers, and the much-mocked Martha Stewart season combined with the absolutely disastrous Los Angeles season helped kill off the show's audience. The Celebrity Apprentice instalments have fared respectably well in the ratings, though a brief attempt at resurrecting the original format in late 2010 bombed hard.
