  • Yeah. What offends and angers the protagonists is that the Tradition just doesn't care. It has no preference for what the all-too-human characters want -- it is just as satisfied with tragedy as with a happy ending, and it uses people, pressing them into the most convenient roles without any consideration for the lives they've tried to build up until that point.
