• Adaptation Displacement: The idea of Lex and Clark being friends in their childhoods has been around much longer than the tv series Smallville but new readers might believe this is a Canon Immigrant. However Lex's dad on the other hand does resemble Lionel Luthor from the series.
• Dude, Not Funny: Apparently Lex finds a great deal of humour in informing Superman that his homeworld is gone and that he is all that's left of his people. He even takes a picture of his face so he can capture the moment.
