Super Robot Wars Original Generation/YMMV
- Accidental Innuendo (Put Excellen Browning at the controls of the Alt Eisen if you get a chance and use the Revolver Stake. Hilarity Ensues)
- And the Fandom Rejoiced (Any mention of a new SRW and its Original Generation to be included in the next, inevitable sequel/GaidenGame or anyone from this series appearing in other games; Another Century's Episode R being the latest, as Kyosuke Nanbu, Masaki, and Ryusei Date appear with the Alt Eisen Riese, Cybuster and ART-1, respectively)
- With the announcement of Super Robot Wars Original Generation: The Inspector (based on the second game), fans met the news with grumbling, as the previous Super Robot Wars Original Generation: Divine Wars, a re-telling of the first game, left a sour taste in the mouths of many. However, that the writer of the Record of ATX side-story manga was doing the script and Masami Obari was onboard as the director was met with some pleasantry, along with the fact that the use of CGI robots was planned to be kept to a minimum.
- The announcement of The 2nd Original Generation and it's cast list, which includes Joshua Radcliff voiced by none other than "I LOVE YOU GUNDAM" Yuuichi Nakamura, and Ariel Org from Real Robot Regiment. Probably more later when Cliana Rimskaya was announced... with the voice of Houko Kuwashima (|Tomoyo) to match.
- Then inverted when it's stated that the game will be delayed for dates unknown... the fandom let out a Big No
- Seems to be going back on rejoicing with new batch of info lately, especially with JakuBuOh and BuJakuOh finally making a VG appearance.
- Badass Decay (While Lamia's treatment in OG Gaiden is debatable whether it's this, or just mere Badass in Distress, The Inspectors turned her Angelg into nothing but 'gigantic robot that just flies and constantly gets beaten up and only good for blowing up' (excepting that one time performing Phantom Phoenix with Royal Heartbreaker), making Lamia LOOK like a Faux Action Girl, until she gets her hand on Vysaga and only started racking up good kill counts afterwards (while they made a black-painted Angelg for Echidna and... well it only serves to get cut/shot down again). The Record of ATX manga portion of The Inspectors (which is more based on the anime while taking up some story elements from the game) avert this, making Lamia inside Angelg just as capable of racking kill counts.)
- Broken Base (Some fans didn't take the Original Generation concept well and think of it as stupid, because "SRW should only be made up of licensed shows")
- Cliché Storm (The games have enough mecha clichés to qualify as an Affectionate Parody, but one thing that stands out is the SRX. It's a Super Robot composed of three Real Robots, one of which is a Transforming Mecha, and two of the three pilots are psychic)
- Complete Monster (There's several of them: Archibald and Agilla Setme, just to name a few of the worst offenders)
- Crowning Moment of Awesome (Too many to list: whether it's Kai making everyone go "Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?" or Ratsel/Sanger hamming it up, there's bound to be something for everybody)
- The Inspector ending with an all-out battle against BEOWULF!
- Crowning Moment of Funny (When Vigagi hears Ratsel's full name, Hilarity Ensues. Anything involving the Inspectors, really: they really do turn Quirky Miniboss Squad Up to Eleven)
- Crowning Music of Awesome (It's Super Robot Wars: kickass music is part of the menu)
- The main theme ("The Super Robot Wars") is pretty epic, even. So Crowning Music of Awesome really is part of the menu.
- Even Better Sequel, Surprisingly Improved Sequel (Compared to OG1, OG2 had some of the best visuals on the Game Boy Advance (pre-Super Robot Wars Judgment), backed by greater pilot/mecha/weapon customization, an even larger cast and a deeper, engaging plot than its predecessor)
- Sequel Escalation (The first deals with Civil War and an extraterrestrial invasion. OG2 throws in the first again, but adds in an Alternate Universe faction deciding to perform War for Fun and Profit and an Eldritch Abomination bent on commiting a Class-X Apocalypse How)
- OG 3 is looking up to be this.
- Epileptic Trees (How Kai got the infamous Gespenst Kick: either he's been teaching Lenonjayce in Original Generation or he's his future instructor...if Jayce ever appears...
- (There's some connection between those freaky Space Flounders and Katina, given how she is constantly zoning out in their presence, before blaming it on the fish scaring her. Rather "unprofessional" of Katina, since she's not scared of anything else...ANYTHING)
- (The "Twelve Keys" Dark Brain seeks: are they the same as the "12 Spheres" in Z?)
- Fan Nickname (The GS in the sequel are being called the Not-Titans, due to their similarites from the story discription to the Titans in Zeta Gundam. The Not-Titans were even speculated even before the game was announced. Of course, everyone saw them coming from a mile away due to the set up of a Federation Civil War in the previous games with the way the Feddie government was heading.)
- Fan-Preferred Couple (Is it my eyes or do many Fan Art really show Axel and Lamia, Axel and Kyosuke and Villeta and Ingram?
- Justified, at least on Axel's side, who had plenty of "BEOWULF!!" crying so much, it may qualify as..
- Catch Phrase (Where it induces just enough Ho Yay)
- Got it: prisken AT DAITROMBE!!!
- And the most
strikingsquicky one? They have an adopted son...in the form of Cobray... - Axel/Kyosuke is actually lent a bit of weight by the fact that some of the dialog when the two fight each other implies that Kyosuke's counterpart from Axel's home universe is gay.
- Not...really. It implies that Kyosuke doesn't have a female companion of any sort, since Excellen isn't in the S Mverse and Beowulf obviously isn't going to have much in the way of friends. This is just a Yaoi Fangirl interpretation running wild.
- Justified, at least on Axel's side, who had plenty of "BEOWULF!!" crying so much, it may qualify as..
- Fetish Fuel: Alfimi and Excellen fanservice brought to us by the animators themselves.
- Fetish Fuel Station Attendant: Lamia might've been one since Advance, but she takes this Up to Eleven.
- Magnificent Bastard, Manipulative Bastard (Abound)
- Memetic Badass: Elzam
- (In some areas of the internet RUSSEL IS THE MOST GENERICALLY BADASS MAN TO EVER LIVE. Then again, he did slap Katina and live to tell about it. If Sanger had did that, even he probably would have lost his hand.)
- Memetic Mutation (This game is definitely the origin of Trombe over here)
- Don't forget the legendary "Real Men Ride Each Other!"
- A website named after Dytrombe/Daitrombe, just as TROMBE-d indeed!
- Daitrombe.net - override ALL Super Robot Wars song/music! ...and images/manga/lyrics
- Also, Lee sparked a minor SRW exclusive meme called NADUHA, which he earned more and more of for his douchebaggery. NADUHA means Needs a Drill Up His Ass!
- Requires a little elaboration: he doesn't get one up his ass so much as up his face, when he tries to ram Tetsuya in OG2...who's in the Kurogane. This Is a Drill, In case you'd forgotten, as the Kurogane has a gigantic drill on the bow.
- Mood Whiplash: OG Gaiden provides one, in particular a segment of Ryusei and Mai gaining a combo attack, which is then followed by the return of ODE and a surviving Lamia at helm once again and Duminuss got her to completely demoralize the team and Kyosuke fell into another Heroic BSOD... and then we switch into Rai getting fed up on Ryusei's attack-naming tendencies and Galaxy Phantom Explosion
- Moral Event Horizon (Some like Archibald and Agilla really stay FAR on the other side)
- Lee crosses it when he kills Daitetsu. He was a Jerkass before that, too
- Juergen crosses it when he shoots a defenseless Lamia and makes the team think he killed her. It's more than agreed that by that point, any sympathy he might have had in the OVA's lost and after his demise, he'll forever be cemented as an unsympathetic Big Bad Wannabe.
- ( Within the first minute of The Inspector, Beowulf kills a defeated Ryusei by Impaled with Extreme Prejudice)
- That One Boss (Plentiful; the number one, however, would have to be Dark Brain in OG Gaiden, who's currently THE KING in the ENTIRE franchise)
- Tear Jerker The Inspector's version of Cattleya's and Daitetsu's death is a lot harder hitting than the Original Generation 2 version.
- Too Cool to Live (Some will question this entry, but many will certainly acknowledge this is why Wodan and Ouka Nagisa had to die: they were just THAT BADASS..........DAMMIT!!!!!!)
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good PlotOuka dies in an area almost full of Machine Cells, the Original Generation equivalent of DG Cells. Super Robot Wars Reversal features the Big Bad resurrecting Master Asia using DG Cells. Yet, in Original Generation Gaiden, Lamia's picked to be Master Asia's equivalent, instead of Ouka, who's almost tailored to be the Master Asia equivalent (story-wise, anyway). While it turns out for the best eventually, still...too cool to be resurrected, indeed)
