For the wonderful David Lynch movie, click here.

This one is a very...odd film, set in a world where homosexuality is the norm. In this world lives Yannis, son of mincing Petros and handsome mustachioed Stefanos. Yannis is the minority--he is in love with Sofia, who shares her life with girlfriend Zeta. Eventually Sofia discovers her own heterosexuality, and the two embark on a secret relationship. Meanwhile, Stephanos appears to be cheating on Petros with a Camp Gay store owner.

Oddly, this movie is best suited for Queer film fests (and is probably the only movie with a central straight romance to ever be so).

Tropes used in Straight Story include:
  • All Just a Dream: In one of the biggest copouts ever in cinema, it's revealed that the entire movie was the dream of Petros, who is in reality straight and married to Stefania. Yannis is the gay one, and the dream was Petros' subconscious' way of telling him that discrimination may not be a good idea.
  • Camp Gay: Iakovos.
