Starry Sky
Starry Sky (more commonly spelled Starry☆Sky) is an Otome Game developed by Honeybee in 2009 for PC platform.
In this game, you are Tsukiko Yahisa (or whichever name you want, actually), the first and only female student to enroll in Seigatsu Academy, an astronomy school. The series features 12 good looking young men (3 per game), each of them representing an astrology sign. So far, four games have been released, each named after a season:
- Starry Sky ~in Spring~ (released March 27, 2009): Capricorn, Pisces and Cancer
- Starry Sky ~in Summer~ (released June 26, 2009): Taurus, Scorpio and Sagittarius
- Starry Sky ~in Autumn~ (released September 25, 2009): Gemini, Leo and Libra
- Starry Sky ~in Winter~ (released December 25, 2009): Aquarius, Aries and Virgo
A 5th game, "After Spring", has been announced for August 27, 2010 and will feature the ~in Spring~ cast. An anime adaptation was released on December 23, 2010. There are more planned, one "After X"-game for each season.
Each character has his own Drama CD, which were released throughout the year 2009. Japanese only. There is now a Starry Sky Character sheet which has just been added.
- Audio Erotica: The Drama Cds.
- Adaptation Distillation: Ten minutes per episodes, twenty minutes per route. You see where this is going.
- Possibly justified, since the anime is likely treated as an advertisement for the games, which are just there to give more context to the Drama CDs.
- Which maybe makes it some form of Adaptation Expansion as well. Well, the "expansion" part of the trope.
- Anguished Declaration of Love: Every love interest in the series.
- Anime Accent Absence: Yoh, despite having spent most of his childhood in France, uses a flawless and remarkably precise Japanese, and can even get witty at times.
- Babies Ever After: After Spring.Kanata's ending.
- Invoked again in Homare's route in After Summer.
- ...and yet again in the Seiza Danna Drama CDs! Specifically, at the end of Suzuya's Seiza Danna.
- There's Miyaji's Seiza Danna too.
- Big Eater: Yoh.
- Beware the Nice Ones Suzuya
- Bland-Name Product: At one point Heegan-Dazs shows up in the anime.
- Dead Little Sister: Iku Mizushima, after the death of his twin sister, he ended up losing his trust in everyone.
- Can't Hold His Liquor: Tsukiko's teacher Haruki Naoshi gets hyper pretty fast when he had some liquor. And the school nurse, Hoshizuki Kotarou, falls asleep after having too much.
- Cast Full of Pretty Boys: What's an otome game without it?
- Did They or Didn't They?: Suzuya's route in After Spring.
- Dogged Nice Guy: Every one of her 12 love interests.
- Every Boy Is Cuter With Hair Decs: Both Miyaji and Tsubasa.
- Hidden Eyes: Tsukiko in the original four, finally averted in After and the anime.
- Fan Translation: An anonymous group called Oge released a full English fan translation of Starry Sky in Spring during December 2010.
- Gratuitous English: The series' subtitle itself.
And : "Thank you", I wanted to tell only it. - Capricorn
And : I wonder when you would realize my heart. - Pisces
And : Well... Have I accomplished all to be done. - Aries
- There are as many of these as there are characters. And chapters in the games.
- Gratuitous French: Yoh, who is half French, indulges in that.
- Might also be added in that category his full name, Henri Samuel Jean Aimée... Which is a great name, given you're 200 years old.
- Mon. Dieu. Tell me they did not just translate "Track list" as "Truck list" right there.
- Genius Ditz: Tsubasa.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Suzuya
- Happily Ever After: The true ends.
- Hello, Insert Name Here: You can change Tsukiko's name to whatever you want, as the game seiyuu have found ways around saying the protagonist's actual name to prevent breaking the illusion.
- Happily Married: The premise behind Seiza Danna (Constellation Husband).
- Heterosexual Life Partners: Suzuya and Kanata, and Azusa and Tsubasa.
- Hey, It's That Voice!
- Fumiko Orikasa is Yahisa Tsukiko (Heroine) in anime.
- Tomokazu Sugita is Nanami Kanata (Pisces)
- Daisuke Ono is Tôzuki Suzuya (Cancer)
- Hiroshi Kamiya is Ryunosuke Miyaji (Scorpio)
- Kenichi Suzumura is Tsubasa Amaha (Aquarius)
- Akira Ishida is Kotaro Hoshizuki (Libra)
- Jun Fukuyama is Azusa Kinose (Sagittarius)
- Soichiro Hoshi is Homare Kanakubo (Taurus)
- Koji Yusa is Iku Mizushima (Gemini)
- Daisuke Kishio is Naoshi Haruki (Leo)
- Daisuke Hirakawa is Hayato Aozora (Virgo)
- Yuuichi Nakamura is Kazuki Shiranui (Aries)
- Hikaru Midorikawa is Yoh Tomoe (Capricorn)
- Mamoru Miyano is Shiki Kagurazaka (Ophiuchus)
- As a side-note, Junichi Suwabe is the side-character Ooshirou Shirogane, of the Baka Trio Hiroyuki Yoshino is Takafumi Inukai and Takashi Kondo is Yahiko Shiratori.
- Ho Yay: You'd have to be blind not to see it.
- "You saying my name sends shivers down my spine..."
- Tears of the Polestar Drama CD has heavy subtext as well, since the guys interact a lot with each other, and usually only with each other.
- Hopeless Suitor: Shiratori.
- Ill Boy: Kanata, at odds with his personality...
- I Don't Want to Ruin Our Friendship: Suzuya
- I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Suzuya
- Just Friends: Suzuya and Kanata
- Les Yay: Koharu, Kotaru (Libra)'s sister, feeds Tsukiko in one of the drama CDs for Autumn. Yes, seriously.
- Homare's older twin sister, Amane, wanted to give her a sponge bath when she got sick while staying at their home... among other things.
- Love Triangle
- Lucky Charms Title: Starry☆Sky
- Meaningful Name: It all turns around astrology.
- Nice Guy Suzuya
- The Nicknamer: Tsubasa. Everyone has a nickname. EVERYONE.
- Except for Azusa, who is just... "Azusa" to him.
- Or Shiki, whom he also just calls Kagurazaka.
- Oblivious to Love: Somehow, Tsukiko fails to notice that 12 hot guys are in love with her.
- It get worse (better?) that in After Spring, two (three?) more candidates appeared. And After Summer adds the Idiot Trio, After Autumn a bunch of Tsukiko's classmates and in After Winter finally Ophiuchus will be added, probably with more side-characters as potential males again.
- Off-Model : The anime has more QUALITY than Mrs. Fields.
- Older Than He Looks: Yes, this is their homeroom teacher [dead link] .
- Piggyback Cute: Suzuya
- Reluctant Warrior Suzuya
- Stalker with a Crush: There are three choice points in Spring where you can leave your dorm. Two out of three are to just walk outside your dorm room. Suzuya is always there. Always.
- Sickeningly Sweethearts: Every relationship.
- Student Council President: Kazuki.
- Supreme Chef: Suzuya.
- She Is Not My Girlfriend: Kanata
- Ship Tease: Despite being clearly Otome game, some "cute hint" pop up.
- The Smurfette Principle: Tsukiko is the only female student in the whole school.
- Technically a Smile: Suzuya
- Tsundere: Oh, Kanata, you're not fooling anyone.
- Miyaji? huhu...
- Twincest: Slightly hinted in the relationship between Iku and his twin sister, probably onsided on Iku's part because his sister was in love with Kotaro. He views her as the ideal partner that he already lost in the beginning.
- Two Guys and a Girl: Kanata, Suzuya and Tsukiko are childhood friends ... and as it turns out, Tsukiko was also friends with Yoh as a child, although she forgot all about it.
- Unlucky Childhood Friend: Suzuya is a borderline of this trope. At the beginning, he kind of gives up on Tsukiko despite being madly in love with her out of consideration for his friend Kanata, wh-who's not in love with her at all or anything like that, okay!!
- Western Zodiac: The personalities of each original bachelor (13) are partly supposedly based on the signs' personality traits.
- Yandere: Suzuya. There's a reason Tsubasa calls him Scary Guy, you know.
- Specifically, in Spring, Tsukiko is given a love letter. She rejects it. The guy isn't pleased, and ambushes her later on. Kanata shows up, and if you choose to go and get Suzuya, Tsukiko will run into Yoh. The two go back to the rooftop to find Suzuya, adjusting his uniform and standing over the guy. Not to mention the constant warnings he gives her regarding his jealousy...
- And then in After Spring, Tsukiko is approached by two guys. Suzuya doesn't like this, and proceeds to beat them black and blue. It takes Tsukiko begging him to stop to get him off them.
- Iku. At first he's a yangire but he will eventually turn into this if you choose his route.
- Summer has Homare and Winter has Hayato.

- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: And white, and red, and purple...
