Actor Allusion: This is not Josh Keaton's first role as someone who snarks back at a voice in his head.
Hey, It's That Voice!: As with Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, this games features two past Spidey voice actors as the Spider-Men: this time around Josh Keaton is Amazing Spider-Man and Christopher Daniel Barnes is Spider-Man 2099. Other recently confirmed voice actors include Val Kilmer as Walker Sloan, the main villain; Katee Sackhoff as Black Cat 2099, and Laura Vandervoort as Mary Jane. Rounding up the cast are Steve Blum as Anti-Venom (reprising the role from the first Marvel Ultimate Alliance game, given Venom's default look is the Eddie Brock Venom), and Fred Tatasciore as Atrocity and J. Jonah Jameson, while Dave B. Mitchell voices Doc Ock.
Celebrity Voice Actor: As mentioned above, the casting of Sloan, Black Cat 2099, and Mary Jane.
Name's the Same: This isn't the first Atrocity in the Marvel multiverse.
Did Not Do the Research: Peter comments that he named the amalgam of Dr. Octopus and Anti-Venom, "The Atrocity" because the name Fing-Fang-Foom was already taken. However, so was the Atrocity.
