Sonic Sat AM (video game)
Sega once had the brilliant idea to produce an Spin-Off Sonic game based on the popular Sonic Sat AM universe. Moreover, the game was held to no other than the producer of another Sega masterpiece, Comix Zone.
The game was to have 36-bits graphics (something new at the time), and it looked... decent.
Shamefully, the game was canceled at a very early stage. Rumor has it that it was because the Game-play looked slow. One has to admit that this is completely true, but it makes you wonder why did they canceled this game in particular for that reason, when many future games would have the same problem.
Other games that include Sonic Sat AM characters include Sonic Blast and Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball.
Tropes used in Sonic Sat AM (video game) include:
- Darker and Edgier - than traditional Sonic games. Just look at the graphics.
- Vaporware
- What Could Have Been: This was one of many attempts at making a SATAM game revolving around stealth rather than speed. The closest these elements ever got to being included in a finished Sonic game was Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island, which excised all of the SATAM elements and ended up being a Flicky Revival, and Sonic Spinball, which relegates the SATAM cast to cameos in a minigame.
