Solomon Stone

A comic book written by Chris Sims and drawn by Matthew Allen Smith (though Sims originally wrote Solomon Stone stories as text pieces and posted them on his blog). It's published online by Action Age Comics. It stars the eponymous Solomon Stone, "the World's Greatest Half-Vampire Private Detective Skateboard Champion", and his very British girlfriend Minxy Flatbush. The series revolves around Solomon's detective work as he travels the globe solving whatever supernatural mysteries come his way.

Tropes used in Solomon Stone include:
  • Affectionate Parody: This comic book parodies the action-packed and sometimes nonsensical plots of Silver Age comics, as well as the sorts of stories everybody writes as a young teen.
  • Arch Nemesis: Dorian DeWolfe, the world's greatest Werewolf BMX Biker Champion Investigator.
  • Damsel in Distress / Designated Victim: Minxy Flatbush.
  • Heel Face Revolving Door: Dorian DeWolfe, according to Sims.
  • I Am Very British: Minxy isn't quite an example of the trope, but adds ridiculous Britishisms to everything she says ("Bangers an' mash, Solomon!"). Writer Chris Sims frequently tweets about his difficulty in coming up with phrases that are just this side of unbelievable.
  • Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: Solomon is a half-vampire private detective skateboard champion.
  • Panty Shot: Minxy, notably on the cover of issue #1.
  • Parody: A fairly vicious one of bad vampire fantasy novels.
  • Reconstruction: Action Age Comics is dedicated to recapturing the action and fun of the Silver Age.
  • Schedule Slip: The second issue came out shortly after the first, with the Christmas issue in between, but the third one has been delayed for quite a while as of December 2011.
  • Supervillain Lair: A heroic example is the Cosmodrome, Solomon's converted planetarium/skatepark headquarters.
  • Vampire Detective Series: Well, half-vampire.
  • Wizarding School: Solomon and Dorian went to Rookstone's Academy for the Magically Awesome as children, according to #2.
