Shameless Fanservice Girl/Playing With

Basic Trope: Character (usually female) rejects the nudity taboo.

  • Straight: Alice understands what clothing is, understands that nudity makes some people uncomfortable, but still doesn't wear clothing.
    • Alice dislikes clothing, and only wears it when absolutely required. She has no qualms about removing her clothing the second she can get away with it.
    • Alice is inhuman enough that she has a differing nudity taboo, and is fiercely upset when humans attempt to enforce their own cultural beliefs on her species.
  • Exaggerated: Alice never wears clothing, even when pressed. She will go to great lengths to avoid getting dressed, such as remaining in private or only leaving at night.
  • Downplayed: Alice is well known to strip naked the second she can, but this very infrequently comes up, as she begrudgingly dresses in public. The most we hear about it is her complaining about having to be dressed.
    • Alice is well known to refuse to wear clothes, but she is only seen in passing, or never at all. It ultimately does not become a plot point.
  • Justified: Alice was raised with some form of societal taboo against clothing. She is as uncomfortable at the sight of clothed people as they are of her.
  • Inverted: Alice refuses to get undressed outside of very specific situations, usually in between changing outfits. She wears extremely inappropriate clothing, usually several layers more than appropriate (winter wear during summer, for example) at all times.
  • Subverted: Alice is violently forced to dress, by a person, the elements, etc etc...
  • Double Subverted: ... Only she strips naked the second she can safely do so, regardless of the situation.
  • Parodied: Alice's nudity is played up as a political campaign. She is frequently seen protesting outside of clothing stores, handing out pamphlets, and giving speeches on how important it is to stop the clothing menace.
    • Everyone's tired of hearing about and looking at Alice and her nudity, and are not above ignoring or mocking her for it.
  • Deconstructed: Alice is immediately arrested for indecent exposure, and must attend rigorous therapy to fix her psychosis.
    • The various problems with remaining nude all the time (skin damage, becoming a social outcast, it being assumed that she is an easy exhibitionist) take their toll on Alice and her well being. It's shown that her nudity ultimately makes her less happy, not more.
  • Reconstructed: Alice is beat down by society due to her constant refusal to get dressed, but over time, people start to ignore her quirk. It's shown that eventually she receives some form of acceptance with the community.
    • Alice appears to get over her quirk, only to later reveal that she begrudgingly has started to wear clothing in public. She still strips the second she feels she can safely do so without fear of being arrested, and is adamant against wearing clothing in situations she feels she can get away with it, despite what other people may think.
  • Zig Zagged: Alice only wears clothing when absolutely required, and the sight of her stripping off in bars, at friend's houses, on the beach, etc. is frequent enough to become a Running Gag. She learns not to discuss her views around other people but is open with them if asked.
  • Averted: Alice hates wearing clothing, but does so when it's expected of her.
  • Enforced: "This werewolf girl's got fur everywhere, why the heck would she wear clothes?"
  • Lampshaded: "Oh goodie, the standard 'It's my right to be naked if I want to' European chick, right? Back of the line, please."
  • Invoked: "A nude beach? Dude, don't go near that place, Alice and Bob will start screaming at us about how evil we are for wearing clothes."
  • Exploited: Brenda is constantly egging Alice on because she thinks it's funny.
  • Defied: "Uh, Alice, I don't care how much you hate them, if you don't get dressed you're going to get us arrested."
  • Discussed: "Why is it that every single race in Star Trek seems to have the same fashion sense as humans? You'd think that at least one would have Outgrown Such Silly Superstitions"
  • Conversed: "In real life, that girl will get arrested, catch something, freeze--" "And you're complaining?"
  • Played For Laughs: Alice's nudity is played up as a contagious disease, political idealology, or religious belief. She is constantly converting people in the background as the series progresses.
    • Alice's nudity taboo is inverted via a blow to the head or other such plot hook, and her friends must protect her from humiliating herself.
    • Bob goes to great lengths to support Alice's views on nudity because he is attracted to her.
    • Alice is the last person anyone wants to see naked, and much desperate effort is given to convincing her to put something, anything on.
  • Played For Drama: Alice doesn't really believe what she is saying, but is being blackmailed, is cursed, or otherwise being coerced into acting like it.
    • Bob goes to great lengths to support Alice's lifestyle because he is in love with her. Alice fails to grasp how much effort Bob is having to go through to help her.
    • Alice had a traumatic experience relating to clothing, leaving her with Vestiphobia. Clothing, specifically the feel of cloth on her skin, triggers her trauma, sending her into an emotional fit.

Oi now, if I want to go around naked, I'll do so! I won't have you calling me a Shameless Fanservice Girl just because I'm dressed how God intends us to be! You should be ashamed, hiding your natural body like that!
