Segagaga/YMMV

  • Harsher in Hindsight: The entire game is this when you realize that in real life Sega was completely crushed in this iteration of the console wars and would never again make another console. Worse, by the time this game was made, it was already obvious that Sega was losing, so the whole thing is essentially fantasizing about a miracle that never came.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: One programmer is convinced that to run a game company, one has to see what other game companies' successes are and copy them as close as legally possible. While this practice has been in existence far longer than Segagaga, it's never been more evident than todays' flood of First-Person Shooter games and the companies that depend almost completely on them.
    • One of the parody games Taro can produce is To Hato, a parody of To Heart. "To Hato" means "Ten Pigeons", and, appropriately, is a Dating Sim where the (human) main character dates pigeons. Many years later, Hatoful Boyfriend was created, whose premise is exactly that. Taro's spirit lives on.
