Basic Trope: Mermaids use ocean objects, plants, animals, etc. to cover their breasts.

• Straight: Marina's bra or bikini top are made of shells.
• Exaggerated:
  • The "fishy" part go down to Marina's bustline, it functions as a strapless dress.
  • Even the pre-teen mermaids that have no boobs cover their chests, too.
• Downplayed: Marina just wears a fancy pearl necklace.
• Justified:
  • Even in the merfolk society, breasts are considered as "private", hence why they're covered.
  • Just a fashion statement.
• Inverted: Marina is topless, only covered by her long hair or pearl necklace.
• Subverted:
  • Marina is apparently to be topless.
  • Her top is made of fabric.
  • It's later shown that in mer-society, they see clothing as optional.
• Double Subverted:
  • Since many mermaids have high taste in fashion to the point of using some form of brassiere.
  • Mermaids reject clothing during the film... but end adopting
• Parodied:
  • Mermaids use shells as brassieres... even from animals that are still alive, or shells whose shape are not apprpriate for breat covering,
• Zig Zagged: It's a common fabric top, though it has a seashell pattern.
