    Anything done to save a script, a plot, a series, even a cast—such as the Bobby Ewing dream season in Dallas.

    A well-done salve can be inobtrusive enough that you don't realize one has been applied until you see the DVD Commentary or the Director's Cut. This can be an Author's Saving Throw or the Network to the Rescue.
